"I can see thtrbear's point, though it's not something I would get up in arms about. Some people may view Kate's support of one kind of choice but not another as a little inconsistent. I don't think this can be boiled down to simply a matter of choice. However, it is a little inconsistent to care about one area of gender issues (LGBT rights) but not another (women's rights). But hey, all I care about is that she delivered a moving speech that's grabbing attention. Kudos to her."
I don't want to get into a big discussion of this. I'm strongly pro-choice myself, but at the same time I'm very sympathetic to people who are not. I think it's a difficult, difficult issue. And I don't want to raise anyone's ire, but I can definitely understand the point of view that human rights include the right to marry whom one chooses and the right to be born in the first place once conception occurs. I don't think her positions are any more inconsistent than people who are pro-gay marriage and pro-choice. I think abortion is an extraordinarily complex issue with no easy answers.

I thought Kate's speech was absofreakinlutely terrific. It was exactly the message we need to hear.
This movement contains so many people of so many diverse beliefs and backgrounds. We are not going to agree on everything. But we need to stand together to make change. We need to check our egos and baggage at the door and bring our A-game of energy, love, kindness, patience, passion, support, pride, intelligence, respect, dignity, humor, creativity, and discipline.
Our time is NOW. Let's stand TOGETHER.

It's nice to see that this is getting coverage on this site. My HUSBAND and I are one of the 18,000 couples that were ALLOWED to be MARRIED before this hateful vote. It has changed our lives after being together for 18 years.
These protests and rallies are only the beginning.
No on hate. Yes on love.
Peace.

Someone didn't read carefully...
And because we should never lose sight of what we're up against, I found this video which illustrates pretty clearly what the other side is thinking. The best thing we can do to win this is understand what we're fighting, and why they have the opinions they do.
It's called Know Thy Enemy.
(Also, v. happy she used my picture! Yay!)
LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!

Chris & I after the Protest
Chris got all wet from the rain, that's why I gave him my jacket (dont want him to get sick) plus it was very warm that day 60 degrees. I made that sign~ cant think of anything...that's the words placed underneath our wedding band that, "LOVE CONQUERS ALL!" We got married 4 yrs ago in 2004!
If my post & photos can change people's attitude (yes on BWW! I was suprised to see some of you here that your facebook status on election night are to leaning on the FAR RIGHT~it was scary! ) on gay marriage to be more supportive and compassionate about the issue~I think I succeded for what came back for!

Just read her blog and I'm very impressed. Between her speech at the rally and Susan Egan's letter, it looks like this cause has brought out some very strong political statements from the Women of Broadway.
Thank you Susan and Kate for supporting us with your words and actions, after entertaining us so much with you talent.

It's been so thrilling seeing all of the straight people at the rallies and online supporting this issue.
And, I hope the Broadway community throws a big rally in Times Square on a Monday sometimes soon. I want to hear Harvey and all of our great theatre/activist leaders speak on this issue.
