I stumbled across this through an ad on this page. This version looks awful and I am embarrassed for them.

I saw this last year, front row center actually. It was OK. First Sight and Sound show I have seen, I somewhat enjoyed it. Not broadway material, but was ok. Seeing Jonah at the same place this August. :)

Posted: 7/29/12 at 1:09pmI live near Branson, MO (where this staging is taking place) and you have to understand that any locally produced version of a musical in Branson will be 10x more kitchy and infuse about 100x more Christianity into it than was originally written. This is the bible belt and is what tourists here expect. Does it make for great theatre? Not really. But it is the norm here.

I thought the production values were pretty impressive, but what little dialogue they showed looked yuk.
Looks like that theater is all about god theater. Their audience's will likely love it -- except those of course EXPECTING ALW's Joseph.

From what I've heard the physical productions of the shows produced in Branson are always going to be impressive. I have a friend who saw a Noah musical there a couple of years ago and while yes, she was sitting through a Noah musical written and produced for a pretty conservative Christian crowd, she did say that the design aspect of it was pretty amazing. And this is coming from a lesbian shop foreman for a major regional opera company, so she's seen and is used to big, impressive physical productions.
Just always remember, when dealing with Branson, MO, this quote from the Golden Years of The Simpsons.
"My dad says it's like Las Vegas, if it were run by Ned Flanders."

When he said, "Brothers...I forgive you", I was reminded of Keanu Reeves.
