Actually, that color is called cream, so the title of the thread should be Joseph And The Amazing Non-Colored Cream Coat.

"I do not not understand all of the Clay Aiken hate? "

It is all about peer pressure. People are afraid to be decent to him for fear of getting abused by the other people who are afraid of getting abused so everybody trips over themselves to be meaner than the last guy. It's very childish.

No, that's not it at all.

Some of us just find him creepy. But his 'fans' can't handle that.

Sheep?

We all came to the decision on our own. Yea, we are all sheep because we all find him, and his stalker fans, creepy.

You are such a rebel!

I think I'm starting to get the picture. A lot of celebrities have some crazy fans. There are also a few famous people that I am a fan of, that if I really started thinking about them, other than as an "entertainer," would "creep me out" too. One is Tom Cruise! But, I guess I don't care enough about them, or dislike them enough, to actually make bad posts about them.....like I'm doing right now. ; )

I do agree about the wig. It is too styled and does look like a female's hairstyle. I can't really blame him for that, though. I also agree that not every actor is a right fit for every part.

I have always thought of Joseph &TATD as a family friendly show that ALW wrote for children to sing at a school. Therefore, I have never really thought of Josesph as having to be portrayed as sexy. Of course, he needs to be all the things he is described to be, and I think Clay is nice looking enough for the part (the wig in that one picture with the cloak is definitely not flattering). Just my opinion, again. I admit that I was mainly thinking of his singing and acting abilities as being perfect for the part. I just have never thought of him as icky or creepy. Dorky, nerdy on Idol, yes. The leading guy on The Big Bang Theory creeps me out, moreso.....there I go again!

Thanks for all your replies.

I haven't watched American Idol in years, but I think that perhaps one of the reasons that Clay Aiken is perceived the way he is by serious fans of musical theater is a sincere belief that the fan devotion to former Idol contestants (including Aiken) is way out of proportion to their talent, especially when it is measured against the ability of Broadway performers who have taken a more traditional route to Broadway (i.e years of training). It's not that everyone is picking on Aiken (and others). It is simply that people who live outside the Idol bubble tend to be less influenced by the hysteria of celebrity, and make their judgements accordingly.

See, and I think Jim Parsons on Big Bang Theory is one sexy mutha.

I have a thing for geeks.

Talk nerdy to me!

Mmm- I'm with you on Jim Parson's sexy self, Diva. His eyes and shy guy demeanor in interviews are captivating. As for Clay as Joseph, there is no denying the costumes and wigs/makeup - at least as depicted in the promo shots - make him look very feminine. There's nothing really wrong (although I agree with a previous post that facial hair would make all the difference) and I think we're just poking a bit of fun at the whole thing.

Considering that's a close up of the same picture we have already seen, no.

Joseph is a "family" show and I'm not expecting Clay to get up in a g-string and shake it but in the show (and the bible) Joseph is handsome and attracts unwanted advances from Potiphar's wife. If that is the look that drives Mrs. P wild with desire she better stay away from the Canaan PTA meetings because there is always going to be a half-dozen blowsy dyed gingers who look like they been rode hard and put away wet back in the early 90's and haven't recovered yet. He does not possess the looks or charisma (especially not in that off-white bathrobe and discount wig) to make it plausible that he could attract the fervid attention of a hot piece.

And I don't get why we all have to worship at the altar of Clay Aiken's talent. You like him, good on ya Nancy. I don't. I've heard cats trapped in dumpsters I like more. Get over it. You don't have to defend him. Put on his latest album and enjoy.

There is always going to be someone who doesn't share your taste whether it's for Clay Aiken or Fuzzy Navels. Move on.

Looks are subjective. I think he's very handsome.

We can believe that, since you haven't posted anything here in 5 years, and every post before that has to only do with Clay.

I should admit a warm spot for Clay's looks myself- in that get up he is the spitting image of my mom's Aunt Ess. I want to fetch him some tea with plum preserves and his slippers. Lay with him- not so much.

Reed Kelly?

I am confused by this reference. Are you trying to make Clay look even worse by comparison?
