Posted: 8/3/13 at 10:37pmWait, Clay Aiken is only 34? He looks like someone much older who has had a lot of work done.

Posted: 8/3/13 at 11:35pmI wonder- did they consider putting pictures of Clay's "Boyfriend" in the playbill with an explanatory note: "Joseph may not look that sexified, but this is his piece, so you know, under that robe he's got it going on."

By the way, Clay is 34 and this picture is a professional beefcake shot from his "Idol" days- I think he was 26.

per friends in this production, mr aiken is quite the diva.
if only ogunquit wouldve stopped being obsessive over hiring 'stars' they could have shared the incredible production with the fulton theatre like they were supposed to.

Posted: 8/4/13 at 2:25am^^ oh yes, I heard the two theaters had quite the falling out over what was initially going to be a coproduction. Also, Ogunquit posted cast party photos on their facebook and Aiken was nowhere to be found.

Sorry Yelliphant I was totally unclear in my post- I meant his "Idol" days more in the sense that he was riding the crest of his Idol fame and releasing pop albums- not the time that he was actually on American Idol.
But as you age you'll probably come to the same conclusion I have- 24 -26- whats the difference?

There isnt much to tell with the co production and what went down-simply put Ogunquit is very keen on hiring actors with credits, and they take their sweet old time doing so. They were casting their season since January and have seen over 1000 actors (and in fact, they still are casting their season-they have yet to find a number of jet boys, and their maria and bernardo for their production of west side that begins rehearsing in two weeks). Similarly for Joseph, they didnt solidify that cast until very shortly before rehearsals began.
Anyway, Marc Robin (a fabulous director, who was supposed to helm the co production) assembled a cast that Ogunquit couldnt quite agree with. Add some other tiffs with Robin and the Ogunquit producers in regards to which costumes to rent, overall show vision, etc. Robin eventually called it off leaving each theatre to mount their own production.

just saw the utube promo of the Fulton version of Joseph. Don't like the costumes, no wigs, and the production. Of course, that's just based on the promo. Hatessss the Elvis costume. Hope Ogonquit doesn't go that route. I liked the Joseph movie version of Elvis.
Clay a diva? Nooooooo. :::grin::: He has his Diva Rep. How do y'all define "Diva?" Do they all have to bow down to him 'cuz he thinks he's Joseph for real. Egypt's Number 2. How ironic.
