That wig doesn't do him any favors. Makes him look like Kathleen Turner.

Who was it in the other thread that said that this would be a groundbreaking production because Joseph is ostracized due to being a lesbian? Because... Yah.

And I assume that first picture was of the scene that "Close Every Door" is in? I guess the Claymates won't be getting a peak at Clay's goodies.

He looks like the Madame Tussauds wax version of himself.
Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

I think right after this, he's going to keep the same costume and wig and play Aimee Semple McPherson in their production of Scandalous.

He can keep the wig and make The Patty Duke Show movie.

"Clay has only seen the sights a girl can see from Brooklyn Heights! What a wild duet!"

Let him have short hair for Christ's sake. There's been no shortage of Josephs with short hair in the UK productions.

"Let him have short hair for Christ's sake."

Or if you're going with the long hair, put some facial hair on him. A beard and mustache wouldn't be out of order.

He looks like my elementary school music teacher, Miss Culver. In fact, I'm certain she had this same mumu/parachute disaster.

I just find him a bit creepy. More than "a bit", actually. Ick.

I do not not understand all of the Clay Aiken hate? I must be out of the loop. What did I miss? I'm certainly not an expert on him but what I do know of him, I've always been impressed with. I watched him on Idol. thought he was great and that he should have won. Of course, that is just my opinion. I saw his Juke Box Tour and was very impressed. He was in Spamalot when I saw it. I thought he was very good as Sir Robin. The audience certainly loved him! I also saw him on Celebrity Apprentice last year. He was smart, funny, compassionate and, there is no denying, talented. Again, I felt he should have won.

I don't think he looks bad, or bloated in Mikers picture at all. Donny Osmond wore a similar wig and did not have facial hair. I think Clay looks better than those pictures posted earlier of Anthony Federov. Donny and the young man who won the UK contest are very handsome. Clay may not compare to them in looks, but I have never thought of him as creepy.

I realize that everyone is entitled to having different tastes/likes/dislikes. But, would you please explain to me why you all seem to find him so distasteful?

I can't really explain it, it's just a "vibe" I get. He just doesn't do it for me. I look at him in those pix and just get an ick factor. I've never seen him perform live, and I just have no desire to do so.

It doesn't make either of us right, it just makes us different.

I think he's great, and this role is probably a nice fit for him. That said, his costumes/wig in these photos look really dated and corny. It reminds me of the Hill Cumorah Pageant.

Tink2, not every actor can pull off every "look." He may sing the part beautifully, but he just doesn't look like what we would imagine Joseph to look like. Clay has a soft face and that wig makes him look like a woman or a wrestler.
