Josh Groban - Broadway Dreamcasting

I feel like it's only a matter of time before we get him back on Broadway and since it's his birthday today per BWW: https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/VIDEO-On-This-Day-February-27--Happy-Birthday-Josh-Groban-20210227

What roles would you like to see him in? Personally, I loved how his name helped bring Great Comet to Broadway so I guess I'll cheat at my own game and say a new musical would be great.

I'd love to see him get the chance to take on something like a Les Mis or Carousel or South Pacific though.

Weighing in my mind whether there's any need for a revival of Man of La Mancha and whether Groban would be good in it; I think he might.

He’d be great as either of the Cravens in the Secret Garden or as Tateh in Ragtime. Or maybe he could be the Beast in the Beauty and the Beast revival.

Raoul...Everyone keeps saying the title role in POTO and I don't know why...similarly, I don't think he's right for the Beast or the Cravens...at least not right now? Baritone he may be, but I wouldn't believe him in "tortured soul" roles without the acting to back it up. He can sing all of the above, but I guess he's still too much of a 'pretty boy' for me to take him seriously in much else at the moment. But get him some good acting training and he could conquer all of the roles he absolutely is right for otherwise.

I think we need a new Man of La Mancha, but with Antonio Banderas as Cervantes. His gruff, bluesy folksinger voice is not unlike Jacques Brel, who played the role in Europe.

This IS the GOLD STANDARD!

Richard Kiley singing The Impossible Dream completely in character!

You'll need a singing actor with very strong dramatic skills to even come close to Kiley's interpretation!

Pierre is the archetype of "tortured soul."

I think most will disagree and I acknowledge I don’t know if they could pull it off, but I’d really like to see Josh Broban and Sara Bareilles star in Sweeney Todd. At the very least, they’d be vocally fantastic.
