Since he is in Pippin until Jan 4, we might as well start speculating who will take over the role after him. My picks are:
1. Kyle Selig
2. Matt Doyle
3. Matthew James Thomas (in an return engagement)
again, Selig got fired, so no. KDM is likely, but then who does the tour??

As someone who will be seeing the tour in February, I'm hoping Kyle Dean stays with the tour at least that long.
Maybe Michael Arden before Hunchback at Papermill (assuming he is part of that).
But I would love to see Daniel Radcliffe do the role!!
I also heard the Kyle Selig was fired.

I think it's now apparent that Selig was fired. I wish they would release a real explanation.
Matt Doyle is doing Brooklynite in Jan/Feb so it wouldn't be possible for him.
I could see Hunter Parrish doing well in the role if he has those high notes.

Is this show going to stunt cast before it closes, or is it just going to close all together? I feel as if there's only a short period of time for the show to live on and it really is a great piece to have on Broadway.
PS - I'm all for casting Broadway stars over celebrities, but I'm still rooting for Raven to come in as the LP. She has the charisma and the vocal chops, it'd be interesting to see how quickly she could pick up on the dancing/acrobatics.

Or it could be someone completely different and not yet affiliated with the production.
I think Raven would do very well as LP. If the producers are willing to cast a male in the role, Usher would be fantastic as well.
As far as Pippin goes, could Aaron Tveit do it? I would love to see him come back to Broadway. I know that he's doing Assassins in the UK until March, but if the show lasts past March I could see him doing it.

Raven could do well, but is her vocal range wide enough? I'm curious...I think she could pull it off...she just NEEDS to have a good balance of menacing and charming...
I HIGHLY doubt they would cast a male LP...wouldn't that require choreography, costume, and key changes in this show?
Also, wasn't Usher not to well received when he was in Chicago?
I also do not foresee a male playing LP, it was merely speculation. If this were to happen, though, wouldn't they just use the original keys that Ben Vereen sang in the original production?

I would imagine they would only cast a male LP if it was a big name as it would take some renovating to reshape the performance around a male LP.
As for Raven, did you hear her in Sister Act? She definitely has the range and she's a very talented actress so I can't see her not being able to have the charisma while still maintaining a sense of mystery, and seriousness.

^Just listened to her recordings in Sister Act...I'm rooting for her to do it now!

I don't think Raven would do Pippin because she is currently a student at the Academy of Art University, but you never know in this business.

^ I agree completely. She seems to be doing her own thing right now and that's great. Wishful thinking!
Why did Selig get fired? I think Gavin Creel did some early readings of the show; i would LOVE to see him play pippin :)

Well, it will be very interesting to see who they cast in the role.
Thinking about it now, I think Raven would phenomenal! I respect her for wanting to do her own thing and better herself, but I really hope she gets back to performing sooner rather than later. Could Laura Osnes be a good LP? She played the role in high school.
"Is this show going to stunt cast before it closes...?"
You mean like hiring the winner of a TV show competition with no prior acting experience?
I don't think the Weissler's are lookig for Laura as an LP maybe Fastrada or Catherine in the future.

If this were 30 years ago, I bet that Debbie Allen would have slayed as the LP. I hope the stunt casting doesn't get too wild. It's such a shame not to have a LP who can dance as well as the ensemble.
All 3 Patina, Ciara and Carly were awesome and could really dance the role as well as having great voices especially Carly!
...hope that continues to be the trend! This is not Roxie in Chicago. You can't fake it with charm.
