heard he was told to try to be less feminine at the stage door. That's just awful.
WHAT! Who would tell him that? Well he's invited to my bedroom whenever he wants, feminine or not.

I don't mind that he's sounds a little feminine, but I'm still amazed at how the Disney producers saw him and thought "wow, he's IS Tarzan. He embodies everything about the character." That just doesn't make sense. He doesn't have this overly masculine quality to him nor does his singing voice. But oh well, he got the part.
Well, ya see, that's the thing about acting.
I think he's an adorable man, but definitely not as hot as some people think. I'd take other Broadway men any day.

That's horrible! That had better be just a rumor!

Looks like DISNEY is starting the big PR push for TARZAN.
But they need to show more of the actors and less of Phil Collins.
They have a talented cast, they need to showcase that.
Josh came off just fine on the show.
Phil needs to step back.

I was just joking around about Josh...it was all meant in fun. Sure, what I said is true - but I'm not belitteling his performance or dedication to the part.
I think he's a fine actor and has a nice set of pipes. It's too bad he was miscast and/or misdirected.

From E-Online's Gossip columnist, Ted Casablanca, on Wednesday....
"Jungle Fever?
Before we get to some western-style questioning, let's do the eastern version, first, 'kay?
Disney, the corporate homespun folks responsible for making New Yawk less seedy and infinitely more commercial--certainly in the Times Square environs--is at it again. Or so I'm told.
Remember that American Idol hunk named Josh Strickland? He was in the Clay Aiken days, but apparently voice and nerd appeal won out over brawn and all-out stage presence, as J.S. lost. Never fear, Josh's hairy chest was saved for a more staged day!
J.S. opened in the title role of Disney's $20 mil Broadway musical Tarzan, and, man, do the high school girlies ride in by the busload, as much of J.S.' primo bod is shown off to Jane and Co., loincloth style. But Disney honchos ain't too happy with Mr. S.' offstage attempts at, uh, potential nooky time.
See, Mr. S., so say very in the know boards spies, has been socially strutting his wares (for intellectual discourse over candlelight canoodling, I'm sure) in avenues Disney doesn't care for. So, said Disney finger-shakers have reportedly demanded Mr. S. cease and desist such personal ads.
Jeez, you prissy types, you expect Josh to hang with all those schoolgals who fawn over the boy? How else d'ya expect a hunk to let loose on his own personal vine-swingin' time?
Let up, you rich nerdwads!"

Posted: 6/23/06 at 5:33pmThat's funny everyone's like he's got such a great body. I think it's nice, but he's really skinny. I always thought Tarzan would be this huge guy with rippling muscles. I'm glad for Josh though. I don't know him, but I'm sure he's having a blast.

Yeah, It took time for me to interpret the article.
So he's going out places Disney doesn't approve of? Is there more to it I'm missing? Did Disney catch him having sex with a guy or something? lol

Well, when you stop to think about it, Tarzan would be getting much more cardio work out than a bodybuilding work out. (So, Josh looks fine in the part. Actually, from the clips that I've seen of the show, "Tarzan" does sort of look like a bizarre theme night at Chippendales...)
I always get a kick looking at the musclestuds on the covers of romance novels set in "Olden Days." I always wonder which it is more likely for them to have had back then: Nautilus machines or a really good creme rinse/conditioner...

Posted: 6/23/06 at 6:07pmIf I read between the lines, I am assuming that "socially strutting his wares" refers to Broadway Bares 16, where pics of him in black bikini briefs are all over the internet. Disney might not approve of that. Teen girls all over the world will be having unclean, un-Disney thoughts. I don't think it's as perverse or titillating as Ted makes it out. Ted loves to stir up s#@t.

Mr. S. was a bit outta control on the stage at Broadway Bares during "Rotation". My advice to Tarzan Boy -- less is ALWAYS more. I'm just sayin'...

I think they meant how he pounced on all the hot chorus boys and started dancing with them. The purpose of "Rotation" is supposed to be to strut your stuff for the crowd to raise money for BCEFA, not to act like you're making out on the dance floor at Club Babylon on Queer As Folk. There's a distinct difference. You have to uphold the Disney standards at all times. Ha!
