So I'm a big fan of Hugh Dancy (I run the fansite HughDancy.info) and I'm planning to see him March 31st in Journey's End. I understand that the early fan reviews for him have been really great so far, the numbers not so much (I know, it's only been open a week, but I'll probably track this obsessively). I was just wondering if this is...well..."average" for a show in previews, if things tend to pick up once people know that it might actually be open. I've got my fingers crossed for the show, Hugh, and my own vacation. I've heard other stories of other shows that have not done in well in previews that have gotten the rug pulled from under them w/o so much of a chance. As much as I love Broadway and the opportunity to come to New York to see this supposedly magnificient show, I want to know if my worries are just stupid. Everyone else here seems a lot more versed on what'll keep a show up and what wont.

A straight play with no movie-star level name is going to do so-so in previews, and if it is well-received by critics, word of mouth will get out and (hopefully) numbers will improve at the box office. So you needn't worry, yet. The word of mouth thus far is fantastic. We'll see if the critics agree.

It's a limited run through July 8, I believe.
Regrettably, no nudity . But the set is so dimly lit, you probably wouldn't be able to see anyway. It's a great play, though, I will say. Just try to get orchestra, it's hard to see from the mezzanine due to the lighting.
I'm not sure it'll last to July, as it doesn't have a built-in audience, but it should run through April at least.
I kind of doubt it but I wish it the best
I just don't think there's any huge desire to see this, but if the reviews are good enough you never know.
Then again, Ben Brantley already gave it a great review in London, and despite using that in their advertising, the show has been unable to gather momentum into big sales.
I plan on seeing it right after it opens, just in case. I wouldn't want to miss it.
I really hope it is able to see out most of its engagement. It's a brilliant production.
Fingers crossed as well, to say the least. Thanks for answering some concerns. I'm really hoping by the time I see it, attendance will have picked up. I also bought the tickets full price ($100 a pop, as did me and four other people), something I feel good about.
