Here is the interview with her, Bradley, and Paul, which aired on Good Morning America today. She implies that she dislikes the stage door crowd, calling it "an embarrassment of riches."

I saw the interview this morning, and I didn't get that she dislikes the stagedoor crowd. I took it more as she was being humble that people were waiting for her. That's just my take.
The attached link only showed a small portion of that interview, and didn't include Julia's response when asked about the stagedoor crowd.

Posted: 4/17/06 at 1:23pmIt was a pretape. They did it Wednesday, following the matinee. I saw them setting it up as I was passing by.

Posted: 4/17/06 at 2:29pmThat is such a lie. I actually watched the interview this morning and she was very cool about the people waiting for her. She said it meant a lot and was sweet.

Posted: 4/17/06 at 2:54pmMaybe that is why it took Julia quite a while to come out the stage door after the Wed. matinee. How do you watch the whole thing online?

Posted: 4/17/06 at 3:16pmI've actually heard she's a great deal more gracious than some of these Broadway "stars" who act ridiculous at the stage door. I won't mention names but it should be a reality check to them.

Posted: 4/17/06 at 3:29pmShe is VERY gracious. The crowd should be greatful that she DOES sign. The cast members all seem a little freaked out at the size of the crowd. Paul Rudd mentioned his fear of it on Letterman the other night.

Thank you Louie and Dottie. I would mention names(the list is long), as they deserve to be shamed but it should be pretty obvious :). The biggest movie star on the planet manages to smile, sign, seem genuinely appreciative of the crowds' response etc... and you've got these completely delusional "stars" that would eat their young to be Julia Roberts sneaking out back doors, rushing into cars with severely tinted windows, running past the "throngs of fans" as if ANYONE would know who they were 5 feet away from the marquee. It's nonsense.

I had a friend who was working in a recording studio during the heydey of a certain one word musical.
One of the "stars" of the musical was trying to record an album (that never went anywhere, by the way). My friend mentioned he had seen the show and liked it at which point this star responded:
"OH GOD, I hope your not one of those FREAKS who hang outside the theatre and follow me home!"
My friend was so stunned he didn't even answer! He had just worked with Mary J. Blige and Brandy, so starstruck, he was not.
This "star" has since gone on to - well - a modest "fame", at best.

Posted: 4/17/06 at 5:16pmSurprise, surprise, another wanna-be Broadway "star" trying to crossover into the mainstream pop world. I think that entire cast has tried repeatedly, IN VAIN, to have pop success and failed miserably at every attempt. She should have held on to and thanked every "stage door freak who followed her home" personally in the liner notes of said album, which undoubtedly wound up in the bargain bin!

She definitely seemed very gracious, appreciative, and genuine at the stage door when I saw it. It doesn't hurt that she's very good in the play. I was never a fan, but after "Three Days of Rain" and her career-best work in Closer, I have a whole new respect for her.

"The biggest movie star on the planet"
??? Off-topic, but surely this hasn't been a realistic description of Julia Roberts for quite a number of years?
Good to see she's prepared to put herself on the line by trying stage acting nonetheless. I saw the madness around the Three Days of Rain stage door from a distance a couple of weeks ago and kudos to any performer who braves that kind of mob scene regularly.
