I watched the Sound of Music last night. I hadn't watched it in years. I love it!

I'll probably be shot for this (and I haven't heard her sing in Eloise or PD2), but has anyone wondered if the whole "botched surgery" thing was just made up to cover the fact that she had just lost it? From my memory, at the time it was going down she wasn't allowed to discuss any details because of the "litigation" and that can often be a giant flag for a cover up. Seriously, (again, I haven't heard her sing since the "operation," except in the Leading Ladies 2 DVD) is she any worse off than Liza? Liza's voice is a shell of what it once was. (Still love her though.) Remember, Forbidden Broadway did "I Couldn't Hit the Note" in response to her performance in V/V where her voice was noticeably diminished. (And I did see that.)
Please don't flame me - I have nothing against her, it's just that this has crossed my mind, and I wonder if it has occurred to anyone else.
that never occurred to me. i just saw pd2 and she sang well but not like she used to. cute movie though. the invasion of disney teens singing though is getting to be a bit much for me
Alix, did you notice how she hit that one note beautifuly?
Does anyone have a clip!? If so, please provide it!
Marlo, I hadnt thought of that.... nor shall I. I never noticed anything about her voice going downhill. VictorVictoria, the movie rocks my world. Shady Dame is incredible. The woman can do no wrong in my eyes, to be perfectly honest.
If someone deserves to be idolized, its her. The coolest thing about her is that she is EXACTLY the way you imagine her. Just as proper and articulate...she even sits like a queen!

Raithnait and Dollypop - believe me, you are not alone in your recognition of reality. It is frequently easier for people to blame a singular outside source than to reconize the obvious. She was one of the most magical talents and performers we have ever been graced with - and still is, just not as a singer. As for the suggestion of her needing a 'cover-up' - I'm relatively certain that Dame Andrews feels NO NEED to justify her actions or life to anyone - for any reason - in any way.
She can do whatever she wants whenever she wants wherever she wants however she wants and nobody will question her. She's got it like that.
