Anyone know why they are having a matinee on the Thursday, July 7th for Hamilton?
I was surprised they were selling it.. could it be because of the exodus of the 3 stars leaving? And since these tickets have been on sale for awhile, was this planned way in advance?

Is it to make up for a change in the schedule due to the holiday? I know it's a Monday this year, but maybe they are taking a performance off either the day before or the day after?
Actually, it is rather odd...9 shows that week, without a 7 show week before or after it.

NINE in a week? that's crazy for the cast!

I believe they don't have a show that Sunday, July 10th, so that's 8 shows for that week.
No shows on Sundays starting the 10, but shows will be Mondays -- 8 are scheduled.

totally speculating, but LMM did say that they were going to film the show with the original cast (including Jonathan Groff) for use at a future time. Groff is making room in his shooting schedule to come back, maybe this was the only time that worked?
like i said, this is a total guess.

yeah that could be a possibility, but since these tickets were on sale since September of last year, this must have been planned WAY back then...
just seemed odd to me

Looking at their calendar it is indeed the first week where they have switched to Sunday being the dark day. To keep 8 performances that week it meant adding in an extra matinee for either Thursday or Friday. There doesn't seem to be much mystery beyond that.

I know this matinee is part of the American Association of Community Theatre's New York Getaway. Not sure if this is the full reason, but I know they have a large chunk of the house.

Shoot....Sunday ENDS the week, doesn't it? Ignore my previous statements.

The cast also is performing a matinee on July 12 for a Hillary fundraiser. I got an email about it this morning.
https://www.hillaryclinton.com/events/tickets/S3WSNRH2P5MTCMDP?utm_source=sp&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20160625&utm_content=25832512-20160624-FC-Hamilton%20(1)&utm_term=Hyperlink_20160624_172005331&spMailingID=25832512&spUserID=MjE2MjQ4NzQyMDY5S0&spJobID=823868101&spReportId=ODIzODY4MTAxS0
so unless they cancelled a show that week they'll be performing 9 shows the week after this Thursday matinee.

Does anyone know if Lin Manuel Miranda will be performing in the matinee on July 7? Also, does anyone know if it will be an in-person lottery or an online lottery for the July 7 matinee?
Thanks.

Thanks.
The only in person lotteries are for the Wednesday matinees. So if there's a lottery it will be online.

I know when one goes to the theater esp something pushed as "ensemble" cast like Hamilton, one has to be prepared for any and every understudy/alternate. That said, I can't help but feel a little little bit sorry for anyone who has spent alot of money for tickets to Ham matinee today - or who may be about to via resale - who thinks they are going to one of LMM's last shows. I'm imagining the tourist parent - who doesn't read this chat board or lIn's twitter - and who is splurging on the 'unaffordable' for their diffident big-fan teenage angst-age child. OH well. I guess they'll enjoy the show alot anyway....
don't feel sorry for them, I'm sure they'll be fine.
They don't need your pity.

The person you are describing most definitely follows Lin on Twitter.
People must've known before LMM tweeted it because prices on the 2nd hand market were very low for today's matinee, even as far back as last week.

Prices are lowering just in general. The 8pm show's lowest price point on Stubhub is $700 less than it was a week ago. We may have hit peak scalper.
