Just received a call from "Roundabout" trying to get me to subscribe--- (they said they "miss me" -- I have NEVER been a member)- So, anyway.... woman goes on to tell me about "110" and the fact that they have just extended, and the reviews for Audra.
So, I tell her that I have seen the show a few times already, and she tells me that this will be Audra's 5th Tony win-
So, I tell her she has very tough competition, and she asks "from who?"- So, I tell her Ebersole will most likely win,
(as much as I love Audra), and she replies.. "really, you think
Ebersole is REALLY competition?"
OY !!!
OY is RIGHT! UGH!
Maybe she hasn't seen the show. (Stifling laugh!!!!)
Or maybe she keeps her head buried in the sand.
It really was hystercial !! The rest of the conversation wasnt as funny (just boring) -- Laura Linney coming--- Jefferson Mays--- yada, yada, yada.....
ooh Laura Linney is coming? in what?

I think she's really competition even if Audra was wonderful.
Laura Linney is scheduled to star in the revival of LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES.
god. that's about the only reason i'd go see that piece of crap play. damn them

Unless something has changed, almost all the Roundabout staff are volunteers who are pretty abysmal in the way they perform their duties...from the ushers to the office staff.
Piece of crap play? Really? I think the dialouge is SO sharp, the characterizations SO strong, and I can't imagine a better adaptation of the material... one need only watch Valmont or the Dangerous Liasons with Catherine Denueve to see how difficult a proposition adapting that book is.
Piece of crap play? I kind of can't comprehend that position.

Les Liason Dangereuses a piece of crap, far from it!
The orignal New York production was amazing and since that time have seen some stunning productions.
I can understand how someone can not like it, but to call it crap.
I'm backing you up, rosscoe.
Liaisons is NOT crap.
It's definitely a "taste" show.
But not crap.
I for one loved the production I saw.
And knowing how much I adore Linney, she'll probably be fantastic and be a great vehicle for moving this show into the public-eye.
Testing, that is funny. The MTC folks seem to be more informed than the Roundabout people. I usually have long conversations with the MTC people about which of their shows I liked that season and which I didn't, and then I end up not subscribing, but they do know what they're talking about.

I gpt tired of the phone calls from the Roundabout. Now whenever I order tickets and they ask for my phone, I give them
the number of Dial-A-Prayer. I feel they can always use a little Jesus in their lives.
i saw a recent production of Les Liason Dangereuses at the Huntington Theatre in Boston. if this production is anything like that, it's gonna be awful. they vamped the whole thing up to the point absurdity.
i just find the dialogue to be similar to a drag queen revue only it's women.
Dolly,
That is hysterical !!!!
LIAISONS is a GREAT play and that translation is top notch. I can't wait for it. I just don't know if I relish Linney in the show. She doesn't seem to have the sexual charisma necessary. I hope she surprised me!! :)
LOL, has this person even seen Grey Gardens? Even if she has seen it and likes Audra's performance better than Christine's, that doesn't mean Audra has no competition.
Linney is LIAISONS is the single most exciting thiing next season for me in revival-itis. I just hope they don't put John C. Riley in opposite her. (How about Rupert Evans?)
I'm definitely agreeing that Liaions is a great play and the prospect of Laura Linney starring is exciting. Any word on a Valmont yet? I can think of a few people in mind that, in my head at least, would be intriguing (Crudup definitely comes to mind, or, though completely unlikely, Esparza). Updated On: 5/19/07 at 10:44 AM
