Is this not an hour long commercial for IN THE HEIGHTS?
Say what you want, Billy Elliot, Young Frankenstein, even Titanic had the same treatment (albeit on non-public TV stations).
It may be in the guise of a documentary, it's generated to sell tickets.
This is the shortened, TV version of the Chorus Line movie. Far better, as well.

I agree that this is fantastic! And Yankeefan, I must ask, is it a bad thing to generate ticket sales? I think not. :)

Oh, hell no. My point was that all shows should be so lucky to get this kind of coverage. Guess I didn't express it well.

I don't have PBS so I have to wait until it gets uploaded.

This is actually amazing. I didn't even really like the show, but this is terrific behind the scenes doc.
Laughter is much more important than applause. Applause is almost a duty. Laughter is a reward.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what?
The choice may have been mistaken, The choosing was not... "Every day has the potential to be the greatest day of your life." - Lin-Manuel Miranda

Absolutely not.. Maybe you should have waited to watch it before making that assumption. It was FAR from it.
The interviews were great, and honestly... I thought it was fascinating and very touching. Loved the part with Mandy and her parents !!!

I wish it was longer. It was so good. My favorite part was when Seth Stewart was walking and they put up the billboard with his picture on it. I had chills the entire show

I would rather have shows do this then have Britney Spears stunt casting.
I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&.

Did it look like they edited two different clips from the finale - from some of the angles it looked like Lin Manuel didn't have a goatee.
And yes, there were portions of this that I had tears in my eyes - especially when they interviewed Chris Jackson at home with his son.

I didn't care much for the show either, but this is one fantastic commercial nonetheless. A bit contrived, alot of sincerity, and the ah shucks quality of Miranda makes this a winning promotion for the show. The director Thomas Kail, should have been an actor, as he plays well to the camera. And that dancer Seth Stewart is also a star in the making, which prompted me to youtube him. He's quite the entrepreneur it seems .
Olivo also came off sincere and you can never go wrong with Priscilla Lopez-so genuine. Good for them.
