Just saw Ave Q on Regis and they did their new song "Only in Vegas". Very funny and they have a Steve Wynn puppet that looks just like him.
I wanna see this version.

In the words of the immortal Irving Berlin... "Heaven! I'm in Heaven! And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak..."
OMG, RICK!!! Rick was the STAR!!! He and Puppet Steve were center stage and he was the big soloist and they talked to him afterward, and he and Johnny came back at the end as puppet Regis and Kelly and... RICK RICK RICK!!! (Quick! Where's the "hyperventilating" smilie!) Oh, my throbbing
!
The song was really cute. FYI, if this has not been made clear - "Only in Vegas" was a special song composed specifically for the Q-arrives-in-Vegas press conference that was held a couple of weeks ago; it is not part of the show.
Oh, and for the Tartlets: Johnny/Rod got a few solo lines in the song and talked afterward (Rod wants to meet Celine Dion so she can teach him how to pound his chest when he sings) and was cute at the end as Puppet Kelly.
Other than Brynn, who got a couple of solo lines as Lucy, I'm sorry to say we didn't really get to see much of the rest of the cast individually.

"i just wanted to see what song they could even perform and get away with on a morning talk show!"
They performed a song specifically written for the Vegas Q, called "only in Vegas".
However, in 2003 I saw John Tartaglia on the Today Show. He sang Purpose, and some lyrics were slightly changed. "A fire under your butt" something about "gut", etc. I'm sure the "smoking grass" part was either cut or changed, but I don't remember what they did (I was sick... I passed out after the beginning
).

Posted: 9/5/05 at 1:04pmLast summer (June '04), Johnny, Steph & Rick did "I Wish I Could Go Back to College" on Regis & Kelly, and the only change was that Princeton wanted to "date" his T.A. And I thought they did a really creative and funny job of bleeping "Kate's Bad Word" when they did "Sucks to be Me" at the '04 Tonys.

Posted: 9/5/05 at 1:12pmI couldn't help but be annoyed at the line about not touring. There are still some open wounds from producers out there and others stemming from their Tony campaign that led them to believe they were touring and them deciding not to after the win. I am sure a lot of people won't find that line too funny.

Posted: 9/5/05 at 1:28pmDoes anyone have clips of Todays performance on R&K? Or the 2003 performance with John singing Purpose on the Today show? *gets down on knees* I live in a dorm. Don't have a TV.

I agree w/ COOOOLkid.
Did NOT like the song they sang - it was VERY blaaahhhhh.
I can't believe I sat through Regis and Kelly's stupid banter to see that!!!!!!

i just have to say hooray for rick lyon!!! that song really showed him off!! love how rick and johnny were the only one's who got to talk lol
after the break john and rick closed the show with puppet versions of kelly and regis respectively (as used on their first r&k performance) it was hysterical - john has kelly down pat
#16re: Just saw Ave Q on Regis
Posted: 9/5/05 at 4:43pmI slep through it, but I had a friend tape it for me, so I'll probably see it tomorrow. I love Rick and Johnny, glad to hear they have big parts in it.

It was short. I wish Kelly could have skipped her McDonald's commercial and that dumb Horoscope guy. I wish John could have done his famous Gypsy skit.
That would have brought down the house.
Rod's turn, I am having withdrawl.
Sucks!

Johnny and Rick were great as Kelly and Regis; Johnny was totally insane as Kelly, with the hair and all. Oh, and the tour line is actually Puppet Steve singing, "They said they'd also like to tour, but I said no! You're only in Vegas!"
I don't know if Regis & Kelly would post this on their website or not. ???

brynn makes an amazing lucy... speaking of which did anyone notice there was one scene the lucy struck a pose under puppet steve wynn that they moved the camera up just enough to cover the bulk of up?

Posted: 9/6/05 at 6:10pmI just watched the tape my friend made for me. I'm not crazy about the song, but Johnny and Rick made it all worth it. The best parts were the Regis and Kelly puppets, Rick having the bulk of the song, John saying "Puppet American," and just being able to stare a John for five minutes or so. Did Regis and Kelly (the real ones, not the puppets) come off to anyone else as being really ignorant about the show (you'd think they'd at least try to figure out something about it, before they asked stupid questions), or was that was just me?
