As previously reported, The Rock will reprise his role as Maui and there is a casting search for the title role of Moana.

How will any of us be able to contain our excitement?

Makes sense because of In the Heights and Hamilton. But who knows if talent will translate into a worthy product.

I’m not excited about a live-action version of Moana, but I can’t get excited about any of these live-action remakes. Kail might do OK with it, as he has experience both with musicals and TV direction (and Lin-Manuel Miranda, obviously). Does that mean we can be spared an unnecessary remake of Fiddler on the Roof?
How long till the inevitable live-action FROZEN?
What happened to Kail's Fiddler remake?

I think like everything MGM greenlit before they sold to Amazon, it was just advertising as they looked for a buyer. "Look what IP we've got to exploit!!!"
After all is said and done, it is the Disney animated classics that remain classics…not the live-action reinterpretations.

Yes. The only one I really liked was “Cinderella”. The others fall short.

^ Cinderella was the best yes. But I also liked Dumbo, Aladdin, Mulan and most recently Peter Pan & Wendy. Pinocchio was meh and I expected more considering the cast and Robert Zemeckis.
