Does anyone know if the song "My Coloring Book" was written for the score to the musical "Golden Gate" which was never produced? I have read that it was one of their first collaborative efforts, however nothing I have found links this song to this show. Thanks!
"My Coloring Book" was a song several popular singers performed in the early 60s. It wasn't written for Golden Gate to my knowledge but it is an early Kander and Ebb tune.

I believe that Kitty Kallen claims it was written for her to sing on a television show.
On a DVD that included performances by the two men, Mr. Ebb said he thought of the idea regarding the colors, etc.
Love to hear the score for Golden gate along with all their cut songs plus the Visit & Over & Over
Actually Kander and Ebb have several shows that never got produced. I keep thinking that there may be a few "new" Kander and Ebb shows built around those songs.
Doesn't mean they will never be produced. THE VISIT was on its way until Jeffrey Seller pulled the major financing, ALL ABOUT US/SKIN OF OUR TEETH has workshopped as recently as this past year, and CURTAINS is being produced at the Ahmanson this month.
A revue should be done of K & E songs that few have hear of
Would love to hear the songs from the original Spiderwoman before it underwent its transformation
The reason I asked in the first place is because our theatre group is doing "The World Goes 'Round" which IS a Kander and Ebb musical revue. I never heard the original version of Kiss of the Spiderwoman. We were actually looking to see what musical "My Coloring Book" was from for our program before it headed off to the printers tomorrow, but as I found out it was not from a musical or at least one that was produced. There are so many wonderful songs by K&E that I never heard before. It's a fun little show.
