re: Karmine Alers

Honey - no matter how many times you say the same thing, the movie's still in the can, and your whining isn't going to fix anything. We get the point.

Sweetheart - I realize the movie is in the can. That's bad enough, but I refuse to play along with the notion that just because it's a movie all standards can be tossed out the window. And to add insult to injury, there are people trying to act as though she's up to the role when it's glaringly apparent that she isn't.

From what I've read right here there is very little patience for anything short of perfection when it comes to Broadway. Why is everyone so willing to settle for so much less from "Mimi" on film?

re: Karmine Alers

Again. Until you see this film, you don't know that she isn't up to it. Until the movie is on screen, nothing is "glaringly apparent," as convinced as you'd like to remain that it is. You're just too bitter to let go for one single moment of your tunnel vision.

re: Karmine Alers

Don't worry, I plan to see Two Gents. I also plan to form my own opinions, when all evidence is in place, thank you.

Which is precisely what I am doing.

I know a singer when I hear one and she's no singer. She's the kid in school who never got picked for chorus. I've seen her on film and her acting is definitely suspect as well. So my opinion has basis.

re: Karmine Alers

Yeah, my knowlege of Karmine isn't too vast, but from what I have read it seems that she is more likely to become a pop star than a broadway star.

re: Karmine Alers

Well after playing Mimi for like 100 years I think it would be a breath of fresh air. I would love for her to originate, though. I wonder what she could be good in. The inner Wicked fan in me wants her there just for her unique vocals!

re: Karmine Alers

i saw Karmine twice and I thought that she was so sweet afterwards but for some reason when she sings she reminds me of a country singer.. i dont know maybe i'm just an idiot lol.

re: Karmine Alers

I loved her as Mimi! I've seen her twice and I love her voice, portrayal, acting, everything! She's also one of the sweetest Broadway performers I've ever met. I'm really excited for her CD!

I think she's 41/42.

She's not my favorite Mimi, but I have to applaud her for continuing to give stellar performances despite having been with the show for many years.

Well, like you heard she was in her early 30s, I feel like I've heard from various people that she's in her early 40s. message from Karmine Alers I can't attest to the validity of the information other than to say that I seem to remember hearing it from more than one person. She looks great no matter how old she is, but I can easily buy her being in her early 40s.
