Forgive me if I am wrong but I assumed that Theather was more compatible with family life than Films. They allow you to stay in one place for several months as opposed to traveling to far away sets. After opening they only have to work for a couple of hours every night leaving the day to spend with their family instead of 14 hour filming days.
^But it's the complete opposite of a typical child's schedule.

Oh is it a crime now for a mother to want to spend time with her family?

But does a film/TV schedule allow parents to be home by the time the kids go to bed? I often hear actors Speak about often working into the early hours especially for outdoor nighttime shoots.
But actually thinking about it, movie commitments are only for a couple of months and they pay enough money for them not to have to work again for while should they want to spend more time with family... Never mind.

Apparently it is.
Add to that, that big names can dictate her hours for a huge amount of filming.
Also...she films for three weeks, maybe more, but it's not as long term as a theater schedule.

I wish businesses thought of families and allowed for work life balance .
Good for her. I've always liked her. She seems to have her priorities in order. Maybe when her kids are older then.
Interesting, this was brought up to her at the Times Talk for the Steve Jobs release, and she didn't seem hate the idea then. She half-jokingly asked Sorkin to write something for her and she'll do it.

(I need this to happen mostly because I'd love to see Aaron write for the stage again!)
