I'm sick with pink eye, so I'm in a talk show mood.

On the View, Katharine McPhee is singing "Somewhere" from West Side Story!!!

edit: She was surprisingly good!!

Haha, just thought it was pretty cool.

just finished it. I didn't like anything about it. She tried to sound like Barbra... and she didn't use any vibrato so she sounded flat.

Oh, I know she wasn't good. I said "surprisingly good" though, because I've always thought she was a horrible singer, but this is the best I've heard her sound.

I personally love her voice, I think she is great. She didn't make the song sound special. it sounded like any other song.

She did Barbra Striesand's version,note for note ,from the Broadway Album...and not as well.

I thought it was very bad. She sounded unsure of the lyrics several times and every time she slid from one note to another it sounded like a dying sheep.

This version is MUCH better, Katharine is not a morning person.
Though I'm sure I won't be able to convince you Babs fans. =D

BTW, Foster produced that song for Babs too, so that is why Kat sang it "note for note"; it's most likely what Foster wanted.

I didn't see the View performance, but I just watched the one Katpedia posted.

I thought it was pretty good.

This is on to promote David Foster's concert < Foster & Friends > that was taped this summer in Vegas as a benefit for his foundation. It will be shown on PBS and released on DVD. She sang it there for him. Many performers were on it and it was an AMAZING concert. Josh Grobin, Peter Cetera, Michael Buble, Andrea Botcelli, Charise and many others.
