I've also copied that on your IMDB board, and sent a letter to her agency.
(That's a lie.)
I wouldn't mind seeing Demi Moore as Luisa but then about her singing "My Husband Makes Movies" or "Be On Your Own" and I can't really picture it.
After seeing IN THE BEDROOM, MY COUSIN VINNY and ALFIE rather recently, I think Marisa Tomei needs to be a part of this movie (someone suggested her in the NINE movie thread and I rejected the idea but not anymore).
Katie Holmes, please stay away from this movie.
I suggested Tomei in the previous thread for Carla.
I think she would be killer in the role.
Katie Holmes.... well since she is so unbelievable talented, I think she would kill in this role.
Actually, I first mentioned Tomei for Carla in that thread.
And the suggestion was subsequently dismissed.
I'm glad to see people are seeing it now, too.
IMDb has it listed, but no cast. The message boards suggest Michelle Pfeiffer, Johnny Depp, Nicole Kidman and of course, Chita Rivera!
FOAnatic, I wasn't claiming to be the first to bring her up for the role. Just saying I was amongst those who did.
I can definitley see Demi Moore as Luisa, but I really can't see Katie Holmes as any role. If I had to cast her in a role I would put her in as Carla.
I know CZJ might be deemed old by some but i'd love to see her do Carla...
If not her what is wrong with Jane Krakowski she is known on TV
I know people are sick of hearing about Meryl but what about her as the one who sings. "Ti Voglio Bene/Be Italian "
Meryl Streep is NOT Saraghina.
She looks nothing like what the part calls for.
Anita Morris was 40 when she played Carla.
Well thank you Foa.. i haven't seen it so i don't know... but from the one time i read the script and from hearing the music it was just an idea.

Can Antonio reprise his role? I ofund him to be very good in that part.
Chita was amazing, she needs to do this.
He needs to work on his diction. I couldn't understand a word that came out of his mouth. There are still some lines on the recording I can't make out.
He did sing better than I expected though
I would love to see Moore as Stephanie Necrophorus, but if that role is even in the film, I imagine it's too small for her.
Holmes would be a terrible Carla and I doubt her husband would allow her to sing "A Call from the Vatican," she is so wrong for the NINE world...a world that requires solid acting. If anything she can play one of the reporters in the ensemble and even then I would complain.
Whoever suggested Marissa Tomei as Carla, I can definitely see it now. She really should be part of this film. Though honestly I would just be happy with Jane Krakowski reprising her star turn from the revival.
Chita has no part in this film, if anything, Liliane Montevecchi should have a cameo.
Catherine Z. Jones would make sense as Serraghena (sp? as MichaelBennett suggested in that NINE thread.
Renee Zellweger should stay far away from this movie. There's a dozen actresses that would be better in any of the major female roles.
I know I'm committing a major felony with this statement...
...but I wish they'd go ahead and get the "big-star-actresses" they want for this film. Larger-than-life, recognizable ladies, who are box office favorites with the acting chops to back it up...
...and then DUB them, if needed, and IF they're good enough to be believable fake-singing on screen.
If they can lip-sync and/or sing along as good as Natalie Wood, Deborah Kerr or Audrey Hepburn on camera... then get a decent ghost singer and let's "have it all" in a musical movie again. Those three stars mentioned above gave indelible performances in those roles... and I wouldn't want to see anyone else play them in a movie, because they NAILED it. It's been done now, and perfectly. But they could only play these parts on film, because they didn't have the singing pipes in "real life."
And I say SO WHAT?! It's a MOVIE. Nothing is real. And it's a movie MUSICAL. Even MORE of everything is not real. They have to make me THINK they're singing, sure, just like they have to make me think they're falling off a building or taking a punch, if need be, when actually it's a stunt double doing the work.
I don't mind singing doubles one bit, as long as it's done to perfection.
THERE! Go ahead and lynch me.
But just one more time, I'd like to have it all in a film musical. A big movie star, box office gold, everyone knows who they are, they can act the crap out of the part, perfect for the character, and when they open up their mouths to sing, out comes aural bliss. Not some nasal, mousy star who can "get by" with the songs. Or not some fabulously talented singer that nobody beyond a four-block radius has ever heard of, causing the film to make four dollars at the box office.
I want it all!
*cue the "Baby" song*
The only thing I have against that best, is the fact that I feel this film would be touted for Oscars.
And, for some reason, I feel if the voters were aware that the actresses didn't do their own singing, they would take the performances less serious because it's not technically entirely their performance.
If that makes any sense.
Don't forget the young pop stars, folks.
I'm sure we'll see Britney or someone dangling from the ceiling wrapped in a sheet.
Ummm...no.
Best12, I think one of the factors that attract many people to a movie musical nowadays is to see their favorite box-office stars "singing." However, I do agree with you, I wouldn't mind to see some stars dubbed if it means we'll get some stars that are able to truly act the parts. I don't think Katie Holmes is part of that group.
I just want this movie to be BIG but with actresses who can really nail those roles.
LMFAO Her singing "On My Own" on that episode of Dawson's MAY be the worst thing I've ever seen in my effin' life.
Actually, FOAnatic... it does.
The dubbing in those films I mentioned was done in secrecy. I guess in hindsight it doesn't matter to me. I don't fault Audrey or Deborah or Natalie, but I'm sure at the time, it was a big deal to keep it under wraps.
And you couldn't get away with that today. Even if a ghost singer signed a "gag order" (as Marni Nixon did on all three occasions), it would leak out SO fast today. There are cameras everywhere filming behind-the-scenes, plus bloggers would spill the beans before the film was released.
And as silly as it sounds to me, I think you're right. It would hurt their chances of awards, and even good reviews.
Just once, I'd like to see an action star criticized for not doing a stunt. It's the same logic.
I just don't want to watch another sweet, young "Hollywood lovely" grab a part like Christine Daae, and sing it like a 10-year-old boy with a sinus problem again.

And this is why Best12 is one of my favorites...
Hee hee! Good one best12
And FOA
Ummm...don't put it past them.
Ummm...I trust Rob Marshall and I know he would never do that.
