Kevin Richardson in Chicago

Kevin Richardson in Chicago

Kevin Richardson (former Backstreet Boy) will be joining the cast of the Chicago tour as Billy Flynn for Toronto engagement later this month. I know he has played the part on Broadway, in London, and in San Francisco...so first off is he any good and honestly does anyone know why he would join for an engagement that lasts just over a week?

re: Kevin Richardson in Chicago

After James Naughton, Ann Reinking, Marcia Lewis, and Bebe Neuwirth left the show, it's been downhill ever since. The biggest joke was Melanie Griffith...so in comparison, Kevin Richardson couldn't possibly be any worse.

I saw him on his last night in London alongside Ruthie Henshall and Frances RUffelle and Paul Baker and Anita Dobson and honestly, he was surprisingly good! Great voice, great looks, gd acting... maybe abit young but just stole the show for me! And compared to the other casts... TALL!

re: Kevin Richardson in Chicago

He actually has a really nice voice. He only got to sing "solo" ona few songs later in the Backstreet Boys albulms but he was pretty good. (I'm scared that I actually know this information!!)

re: Kevin Richardson in Chicago

jeniferrenepatricia...nothing personal but you have NO idea WHAT you're talking about. The show's been running for about 10 years and in those 10 years there have been quite a bit of sensational performances. Just because you're only familiar with the Original Broadway Revival Cast Recording and what you read on these Message Boards, has no relevance to what actually was being performed at the Shubert Theatre and the Ambassador Theatre. Heck, MOST of the posters on this board didn't even KNOW what Broadway or CHICAGO was 10 years ago. Hahahaha!

The list of sensational performancers who've graced CHICAGO after the original revival cast left are:

Marilu Henner (Ann Reinking's own choice for 1st Roxie replacement)
Ute Lemper
Sandy Duncan
Sharon Lawrence
Billy Zane
Michael C. Hall
Ruthie Henshall
Caroline O'Connor
Robert Urich
Jennifer Holliday
Chita Rivera
Karen Ziemba
Brent Barrett
Maria Friedman

...and the list can go on forever. re: Kevin Richardson in Chicago

That's my general small list of who's performed in the revival of CHICAGO period, in any part of the globe.

re: Kevin Richardson in Chicago

Every damn time somebody meantions this guy I think they're referring to voice over artist extroardinaire Kevin Michael Richardson. Who'd be great in Chicago, by the way.

re: Kevin Richardson in Chicago

Why does there always have to be(with some exception) B list actor or singer in Chicago to make the damn show run> Why can’t they put in good Broadway actors, and then people would come for quality. Just a dream of mine…

re: Kevin Richardson in Chicago

To be fair, very few of their "celebrity" actors really bring in any ticket sales. The show sells the same amount of tickets whether it stars Karen Ziemba or Kevin Richardson. Let's be honest.

re: Kevin Richardson in Chicago

I saw him several times during his Broadway debut (more times than I'm actually willing to admit, thank you) and I enjoyed his performance quite a bit. Definitely not the best Billy I've ever seen, but I was pleasantly surprised by his performance

re: Kevin Richardson in Chicago

He actually has a pretty good voice. I saw a good commercial for this the other day on TV, so they must be promoting the heck out of this (understandly).
