Kimiko Glenn in Waitress

Does anyone know if her OITNB filming schedule is going to alter her time in the show?

#2

Kimiko Glenn in Waitress

I have this same question for Danielle Brooks in The Color Purple. Any insight would be great.

I think she tweeted that she'd be in the show for at least a year.

Right, it helps that Orange shoots in New York, so Glenn and Brooks can easily film during the day.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I know both Danielle and Kimiko have been in and out of their shows especially Danielle. Danielle's was out today and yesterday. And will be at least out on Wednesday and Thursday again. She's really nice on twitter and says when she is out ahead of time (if you ask her/tweet her). Kimiko was out yesterday at least for the matinee. But I don't think it'll change the schedule of when they're leaving. I think these couple weeks will be hectic, but unless they were planning to leave in the summer it wouldn't change anything I don't think.

I was at the show for the Saturday matinee, and she was out. However I don't think it was planned. She was supposed to be in the show, but a last minute intercom announcement informed us that Stephanie Thorns was going on as Dawn. She was wonderful by the way, it was her first time in that role.

Fairly certain they both plan to remain in both for the time being. Crazy schedule, indeed, but at least it is such a hugely ensemble show to the extent that neither has to be on set all day, each day of filming. Grueling nonetheless I'm sure.

I know this is a board relating to Kimiko, but in regards to Danielle it seems that she'll be out Tuesday-Thursday this week. She said on twitter she'll be on Friday and the weekend.

Thorns stepping in for Glenn as Dawn Saturday afternoon was planned ( and not the first time this week Thorns went on for Dawn either.) There were inserts in the playbill for all three understudy changes (Dawn, the doctors wife and Earl were all played by understudies.) Why they had us do inserts in addition to an announcement when there was no change between the two is beyond me. But, they did.

I suspect they'll both have a lot of screen time in the first few OITNB episodes of next season based on the last 2 episodes of this season.

Off topic spoilers in the box because none of my friends have watched yet and I'm dying!!!

Oh my god I was so devastated when Poussey was killed. Especially since I watched it this weekend... All the more sad in light of recent events. And their performances reacting to her death were both utterly gut wrenching.

Usually an announcement before curtain will address any additional changes that are not listed in the inserts or the program (or if there is an error somewhere).

That said, occasionally inserts are printed really late and if there is any question that there was enough time to ensure that an insert got inserted into each and every Playbill, they will make the announcement as well.

At Waitress on Sunday matinee, there were two changes listed on the insert but there wound up being three changes. They made the announcement for all three understudies, not just the one additional change.

^I was there yesterday too--I did SRO and 2pm the board only had the original two understudies listed (the same two that were on the Playbill insert). The two changes were the actor playing Earl, and then the swing covering the understudy's original track, so I guess it was a last minute thing.

Just saw Kimiko in the new tween film, NERVE. She's quite delightful in a small role similar to her character in WAITRESS. It's certainly Emma Roberts' film, but Glenn makes a great impression.

At the stage door afterwards, Stephanie told me herself that it was her first time. She has been on as Jenna, but never Dawn. The announcement came a little after 2pm (when it was supposed to start), and curtain was delayed by 10 minutes, as Stephanie was expecting to go on in her ensemble track. I'm certain that it was her first time, and that it was unplanned. I'm not saying it's not possible that another cover was set to go on as Dawn then suddenly couldn't, but this was indeed a last minute change.

Gleek, first off, I work as an usher for the Nederlander's. One of the shows I get called to a fair amount is Waitress. That being said, I was there both Sunday as well as Thursday working the show. On Thursday, Thorns was on for Dawn, same for Sunday. Regarding the inserts, there's a good chance that I'm misremembering what exactly was on them.

Guys it's Torns and not Thorns.

Also if Stephanie Torns was on for Kimiko as Dawn then Ragan Pharris was most likely on for Stephanie as Francine Pomatter since that is Stephanie's role and Ragan is the only female swing(I believe they are getting a second one soon if not already)

I was there Saturday night, July 9th, and both Kimoko and Nick were out. Their understudies did a fantastic job.
