Kinky Boots

I was just curious to know If I was the only one who didnt enjoy this show. This was the first time I wanted to walk out during intermission. None of the songs were memorable except for maybe(Not my father's son and Wrong Guy). And Billy to me seemed to be sleep waking through this perfromance..Maybe it was a off night for him. The only highlight was Haven Burton, who I thought was great. It was a toss up between Something Rotten and this, should have gone with Something Rotten.

I didn't like it, either. It's pure fluff, and I can't remember a single song.

I really didn't enjoy Kinky Boots. I found the show to be an efficient crowd-pleaser but I didn't get the whole "heart" thing that the marketing - and posters here - were promoting. I found the choreography weak, the score unmemorable, the accents atrocious - the worst of any professional show I've seen - and the performances weak.

One positive. It wasn't too loud, which is a complaint I have about some of the British imports, especially Matilda.

Some people around me left at halftime. I couldn't, as I knew people in the show, but wished I could join them.

Having said all that, the audience, for the most part, were having a great time. I didn't but, hey, it's still running so what do I know?

i think the score is fantastic!

songs are well crafted and memorable (not my fathers son, step one, the history of wrong guys, land of lola, soul of a man, raise you up) and was able to name those alone without even looking at the cd.

Still listen to songs from the obc of kinky boots and book of mormon more than anything else out in the last five years...

I saw it in Chicago before its pre-Broadway run and I thought it was OK. The last song is really catchy and the story is uplifting, but overall I was a little bored and most of the music didn't really do it for me personally. I liked the movie much better. It's entirely possible they made significant changes before the Broadway run, but it's not something I'm dying to see again. I can also see why some people might really enjoy it.

I definitely didn't dislike it enough to leave at "halftime". (LOL... Sorry.)

That season I actually enjoyed Bring it On more--which I almost didn't go to because I thought it was going to be unbelievably stupid, but my friend talked me into it when I asked if she wanted to buy my season tickets off of me. It was total mindless fluff but I thought it was a fun tongue-in-cheek show.

This just goes to show everyone has different opinions and preferences.

Saw first preview, and many times over the past 3 years. I just saw it last week after 6 months of being away. It was still absolutely wonderful. With the exception of a few tired ensemble members and swings. Billy Porter is still on FIRE. Great energy and the audience was loving every second. And I need to add that Sean Patrick Doyle is MAGIC onstage. He is giving his LIFE every moment. WOW!
