I guess Kristin's more into PUSHING DAISIES.
You don't see her pulling out of THAT one.

Posted: 3/11/08 at 2:00pmThe woman has to make a living (Pushing Daisies will be filming for season 2 at that point) , and it's not like she hasn't done Candide before.

oh man....I am going on vacation to England in June and got a ticket for June 23rd...guess I will still go and enjoy it....
...not her fault, I guess she just has obligations for TV!

I am assuming she signed on to do the role during the strik thinking it would go on this long. As of right now ABC is filming more episodes of Pushing Dasies and pretty much started as soon as they could after the dust of the strike settled.
I am not suprised that it turnes out that she can't do this at all.

There was a posting a while ago, asking who were the new legends of Broadway?
The sad truth is there can be no more "legends" when theatre pays less than TV and film. The draw to the theatre just isn't as strong, financially, as other mediums.
I would have said Nathan Lane was one of the new legends, and still feel that he has some street cred, as it were, because he's managed to find a blend that keeps him in the (media) public eye at large, but still keeps his roots in the theatre.
Kristin, not so much.
Well, at least Kristin's a common household word in Oklahoma. Sort of like "gravy," "catfish" and "WIC card."

I don't understand why people are hating on her. She was contracted to continue in Pushing Daisies probably before she ever agreed to do Candide. It's not her fault that the strike completely messed up filming for Daisies as well as other shows. She obviously signed on to continue another season. What was she supposed to do, pull out and cause the show to be cancelled and cause a whole slew of people to lose their jobs? I say good for her! She can be in another production of Candide anytime, but a show like this doesn't come around that often with the reality-centric way TV entertainment is going.
I love how as soon as a theatre personality gets success in film and TV they have sold out. When if anyone else had the chance they would choose the television show in a heartbeat.

I highly doubt Pushing Daisies is currently in production. It's common knowledge that it won't be returning until the fall, so why would ABC, which is rushing to gather some episodes of there other shows ready for this season, be worrying about Pushing Daisies now? If anything, Pushing Daisies will be back in production in May or June through the summer.
I totally support Kristin, I mean she does have obligations. I don't find it unprofessional or find it debasing to her theater stardom. She chose to do TV over theater, so what? It pays better and gives her more of chance to be seen. Plus, its not like she's doing a bad show, in fact Pushing Daisies is one of the best shows to come on in a few seasons. And she even gets to sing, which, for a musical theater actress, probably is a nice perk. :)

Pushing Daisies is I am sure eather in production or starting production. Considering how long it takes to get a major crew up and running I am going to guess the latter. But, I wouldn't be suprised to hear that by the time that it is time to get down to filming (maybe a bit before) Candied would be under way.
I am willing to bet that she took the job because she didn't know how long the strike was going to be and needed work in the time being.
However, because she is contracted to Pushing Daisies first. That means that she is obligated to it before all other projects. That being said, when she was told that Pushing Daisies was going to be up and running she had no choice but to return to that one first.

Posted: 3/11/08 at 6:49pmI'm sort of glad. I feel like the Lonny Price concert was perfect and that there's no real reason for her to explore the piece with a different director hell bent on making the show darker.

Posted: 3/11/08 at 7:10pmPushing Daisies is indeed in production. I saw Anna Friel and Kristin Chenowith on the Warner Bros. lot the other day when I went to have lunch with my mother there.

Posted: 3/11/08 at 8:40pmPUSHING DAISIES will NOT be coming back this season. From all articles I have read, the show is expected to go into production in June which is when Chenoweth was supposed to play the role. She is contracted with the show and obviously cannot violate her contract by bailing out on everyone, plus from what I hear, shooting PUSHING DAISIES takes longer than it does most shows (which is why we'll see most of the ABC line-up back). I don't think there is anything bad about her having to pull out, she was willing to commit herself to a stage production while on break, it's not her fault that the strike affected her schedule.

Bryan Fuller said in an interview with Comic News Insider about a month ago that they were going into production early to hopefully have an entire episode completed by the San Diego Comic Convention (while other shows might just have clips) which is some time in July.
Kristin also did a podcast with CNI and announced that she wasn't doing Candide, last week (March 4th). I guess she let it slip a little early seeing as the big sites are just reporting on this now.
Here's a link to the podcast if anyone's interested: http://cni.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=313969
They don't start the interview until like halfway through and talk a bit about Kristin's stage work and Pushing Daisies for maybe 20 minutes.
