Posted: 4/8/08 at 2:34pmSondheim pressed some LPs for private distribution in the late 80s. There was always a problem on those, as the tape he used had a crimp in it and caused the loss of two words in the song When. I was able to fix the problem when we mastered our CD - I'm not telling how, but my mastering engineer performed a work of genius.

"Can't go into the details, but it's really a limited edition and therefore iTunes cannot be part of the equation."
Well at least the tracks will exist for future generations, and will be there if new arrangements can be made.
With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-

Wow! I can't wait! I love this score! Thank You!
Is there any way to find out how many are left? I want to purchase it, but I won't be able to until tommorow, and I'm hoping there's still a copy or two left.

WOW - thanks for the info and the link! I have pre-ordered the CD and it will probably be one of the first ones to wing itself to the Philippines
A very, very long time ago, I heard Anthony Perkins singing for the first time. The song was I REMEMBER (SKY) and it was one of the most haunting songs ( beautiful melody and the lyrics were so crisp and poignant) I have ever heard - and it did not leave my memory ever. At that time ( I think I must have heard it in the late 60's or early 70's, can't exactly remember), I did not even know there was a Stephen Sondheim
...Neither did I know that it wasn't Tony's character which actually sang it on the show ( because the lyrics would have fitted either gender, if one is not familiar with the story). Neither did I know from where Tony sang the show nor on what album it was recorded.
Over the years, I have come to learn that it was a girl/woman's song, as I now have versions from Sarah Brightman, Claire Moore, and Barbra Streisand ( with additional preface lyrics from Sondheim to fit Barbra's second Christmas album).
Now, I am looking forward to hearing the entire score...but I am still looking for that version by Tony Perkins
Btw, also in the late 60's, I remember seeing Tony on Broadway with Richard Benjamin in a little known Neil Simon comedy called The Star Spangled Girl
If you are placing an international order, it can be a little confusing, which they themselves say on the order page. First, it does not specify immediately that you have a choice of PayPal or via credit card. Also, be sure to check what you are going to be charged ( I had to keep updating the correct number of order/shipping fee - my fault - LOL!) before finalizing the sale. But if you persevere, you are going to get there

Actually, I think it was Tony Roberts not Perkins in the Star Spangled Girl. I think Perkins returned to B'way in Equus and Romantic Comedy.
If anyone has any confusion about ordering, please just drop a line and we'll clarify everything for you.

Got someone to order it for me! ^___^ I can't wait until I'm back in the U.S. to hear it! Now if the estate lets the video slip someday, all will be right in the world. I should really get around to seeing the archive one of these days...
Thank you so much for giving us such an amazing opportunity!

It was Tony Perkins on the Broadway version - I was there and saw his performance
But I understand that in the movie version, it was Tony Roberts who played the role created by Tony Perkins.

Had no idea Perkins had done this on B'way. Of course, I've only seen the terrible film, so I had my Tonys confused :)
Over half the 3000 are gone now, in under two days, so that's heartening.

I'm beyond excited about this.
I never much liked the Patinkin/Peters or Harris/McCathy recordings.
So to FINALLY get a decent recording of Charmian Carr singing I Remember will undoubtedly be the highlight of my showtune purchases this year.

Posted: 4/18/08 at 3:49pmJust a heads up - CDs came in two weeks early, so packages have been addressed, and everything will ship out on Monday. So, if you've been waiting to order until the CDs are here, they're here - and we're about two-thirds sold (of the 3000 limited edition units).

Posted: 4/21/08 at 5:24pmAs I've mentioned, we're about two-thirds gone in two weeks' time - but word has NOT gotten out to the subscribers of The Sondheim Review yet (they're having trouble with whatever software they use for eBlasts) - I suspect when it does that will be that. In the meantime, we lugged a humungous number of boxes over to the post office this morning, so all orders are now on their way.

Posted: 4/21/08 at 6:43pmHey BK... can I play excerpts from this on my radio show?
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Posted: 4/21/08 at 7:14pmReally looking forward to hearing this. I saw the only stage production ever of "Evening Primrose" in Ian Marshall Fisher's "Lost Musicals" season at the Liliam Bayliss theatre in London a couple of years ago and it was magical.

Posted: 4/22/08 at 3:46amRe playing excerpts - I'm not really sure how that works these days. If it's a real radio show, I'm sure you know the ins and outs, royalty-wise. If it's a home-grown affair I'm sure a couple of excerpts would be fine.
