'LA CAGE' to play The Playhouse WITH Graham Norton

'LA CAGE' to play The Playhouse WITH Graham Norton

Performances due to start Oct 20th but not confirmed.
Douglas Hodge returning with Denis Lawson replacing Phillip Quast.
It's such a shame its taken taken 7 months to get this fantastic production into town and now without its complete Menier cast. Very few of the original cast are able to return to the show as they are now spread out among other West End shows etc.
Lets hope they can get the publicity out there for the transfer and get the heat as high as for The Menier Chocolate Factory season.

Ooh for a second there i thought i had stumbled across Wickedboys Royal Albert Hall show! :)
In all seriousness i might go get tickets for this, although it would mean going on my own, and ive never been to the theatre on my own. But i think the array of coloured wigs worn by the Cagelles is worth the new experience. lol

Oh my god! GO! its a stunning little production, you must have heard all the buzz from its Christmas at the Menier. Tickets were like gold dust and were the hardest to find out of all the Meniers musicals recently.
It so deserves this transfer, just keep your fingers crossed it can find its audience again.

re: 'LA CAGE' to play The Playhouse

See, I'm all forlorn that Philip Quast isn't in it anymore. And I did like the intimacy of the Menier production that I'm fairly sure can't successfully be achieved in any more traditional house.

But I do also have a bit of a crush on Denis Lawson, so this may have to be revisited anyway. re: 'LA CAGE' to play The Playhouse

Denis Lawson is an inspired choice. I'll be there, though I fear the Playhouse is a death sentence for the show.

A gorgeous setting for a gorgeous looking show but it is really at the end of a very long trek for tourists!
Denis Lawson is perfect casting I think. Does he have Twiggys legs?
**This means there could very well be a Cast Recording now with Mr Lawson being an international name!

Brave audience members over the age of 18 will be able to get seats at cabaret style table seating in the front stalls and on stage to experience life at La Cage 'to the full'!

re: 'LA CAGE' to play The Playhouse

When La Cage, first opened in New York, it open at the Palace if I remember right, which is one of New York bigger theatres.

I have not seen the show or heard the music, so really looking forward to seeing this production.

The Playhouse I understand is a smaller theatre, which this show suit a small theatre?

My train comes into Charing Cross, so could I suggest right location, wrong theatre!!!!!!!

re: 'LA CAGE' to play The Playhouse

Thanks for posting the great photos Wicked.

I missed this at the Chocolate Factory, partly because all my female theatre buddies ganged up together and went on their own without telling me! It was a deliberate conspiracy - I didn't find out that they'd seen it until months afterwards when I spotted a programme at one of their homes. I was livid.

Are we talking Denis Lawson or Leigh Lawson (Mr Twiggy) here?
