Oh lord. I loved the movie, but some things are best left the way they are.
In the movie hypothetical stage adaptation discussion thread I layed out why I don't think it will work, and I stand by those beliefs. Let's see if this actually comes to fruition.

"Damien Chazelle's feel-good musical romancer"
I genuinely don't understand why people keep describing the movie like this.

What don't you understand? Just because it has a realistic, somewhat sad ending doesn't mean it's not a feel-good musical?
I had a feeling it was only a matter of time. I can't say I'm even slightly surprised about this.

I thought it was a rather cynical effort about two self-absorbed creative types in LA, which is totally fine if that's the story you want to tell.

OK, but that's not how they're selling it and clearly it's working out for them.

Lionsgate is going to open Hunger Games theme parks complete w A Capitol, a District twelve and an Arena area. Haven't seen that come to fruition yet. ( Macau & Atlanta?)
Talk is cheap.

???
The first Star Wars film came out in 1977 and the theme parks opening date is still TBD.
Similarly, the first Disney film came out in 1934 and Disneyland opened 21 years later, with Disney World opening in 1971.
The Hunger Games franchise ended... last year.
Talk is cheap? How about you fund one of these ventures and then talk about cheap. Not everything needs to happen overnight. Some things take time.
That being said, you're talking apples to oranges with your comparison. A screen-to-stage adaptation will
happen much quicker and for much less money than a theme park opening for a movie franchise? La La Land on-stage will happen, in one form or another.

So from this nebulous article which says absolutely NOTHING other than "if we want to we can" the headline HERE becomes La La Land to be a National Tour. Rather silly, no, this leap? But, what else is new.

There was to be a live Hunger Games stage show in London - now delayed. Hunger Games in London
The Atlanta area theme park - which was not exclusively Hunger Games - is scrapped. No District 11 in Georgia

Somehow I think the 'amateurish' [can't think of a better word] style of singing/dancing of the 2 leads was perfectably acceptable[fantastic].
Do that on stage--won't work;eg Sally Bowles--once Liza got her hooks into it she[Sally] became a belter and now audiences expect the same.
They will hire perfect singer/dancer leads and all the original charm will be lost.
Broad statement but just a thought .
[There is a Hunger Games theme park in Russia? where contestants are locked in and hunt each other--did I read that somewhere?]

That's an interesting take, SweetLips. Having only been on this Earth for 23 years, I was unaware that Sally was originally written for a "lesser singer" and that Liza changed this.
It appears the title role of Hello Dolly went through something similar...I think it was originally made for Ethel Merman's voice, then the Carol Channing sound happened, and then people assumed she was a brassy belter once more after Barbra Streisand in the film (I still think she was too young).

Judi Dench was the original Sally Bowles in London 1968--waaaaaaaaay before your time and fitted the character perfectly.
