I haven't heard anything either. I loved the show! I had never heard the music or seen a production of it before I saw this revival.
I received an email on Friday saying that my copy shipped! That was fast and early! Hopefully it'll get here soon... Excited to hear it.
Where did you order yours from? I ordered it directly from the record company and I didn't receive anything. Boo.
Yes, I ordered mine directly from Sh-K-Boom.
I ordered from Sh-k-Boom also and haven't gotten an email yet.
It takes them a few days to get all the pre-orders out, so I'm sure we'll be getting an email very soon Sutton.
Curious to know what others think. Have only listened to it once, but my initial thoughts are that she is wonderful, finding more of the humor in the role than Sherie did. He is pretty good, but no Norbert. His "Nobody Needs to Know" just can't compare to Norbert's.
In the liner notes, Brown writes something along the lines of this production finally getting it "right." The staged production, maybe I agree. But for the recording, I still like the original one better.
^I agree. Last Five Years isn't really a favorite of mine, but I gave this one a shot and it hasn't really changed my mind. At times Adam actually sounds like he's doing a Forbidden Broadway impersonation of Norbert. I guess if you're someone who saw this production and loved it then this recording will be a nice memento, but it's not going to replace the original for me.
I'm almost done listening to it through. I've never seen the show but I have loved the music for years. Betsy is wonderful and Adam does sound a lot like Norbert. I did just pick up tickets for the concert version Betsy and Adam are doing in Boston in November, so it will be interesting to see their interpretations of the songs live.
