And, that thread wasn't good enough to post in?
You had to start another?
well, I haven't seen it since Chicago. From the Chicago show, I definitely think that it's appropriate for a thirteen year old. I don't know what kind of changes had been made since then, but I saw plenty of younger kids there.

It's definitely appropriate for a thirteen-year-old. When I saw it in Chicago, there were a few crude jokes but nothing too racy for a thirteen-year-old to handle.

Ha, it all depends on Jackie Hoffman's ad-libs. (Though, realistically, a 13-year-old would find all of them hilarious, no matter how raunchy.)
So excited for this show to start previews.

Um....What?

""and I certainly know what to expect from Brooks in general."
And how is that gonna help you with the Addams Family?

I do not really understand the Brooks reference or some of the posts here, but my 11 year old who is a seasoned theatre fan, did not really like the show. I LOVED it and thought it was hilarous!

I wonder how the pre sale is for this show.
I think the OP seems to think Mel Brooks is involved in the show. He's not.

I have a question. When I looked at the web site last nite, Jerry Zaks was not listed. Has he been brought in as a show doctor or will he be credited as the director? or some other sort of hybrid situation?

Jerry Zaks is a creative consultant on the show. He will not be credited as director - Julian Crouch and Phelim McDermott will still be billed as directors.
Flahooley,
Wow! That would surely be impressive if it's correct...but you say "I believe..." -- is your belief based on something concrete or is it just blind faith? I haven't seen anything on any of the boards or in the press with a dollar figure, so I'm just trying to understand how or from where you arrive at that number. If it's just a guess, that's fine, but that's useful to know as well.
Thanks.

IT IS FROM A FRIEND IN THE PRESS OFFICE.

Or, as Louisa May Alcott used to say "If you can't stand the snark, stay out of the Snark-hole."
Don't worry Sabrina, the idiots who are complaining about this thread obviously have nothing better to do. If a topic is 10 days old of course create a new topic about it, no need for people to be so bitchy.

Does anyone know when and how the winners of the AF preview tickets wil be informed? Just curious; I don't expect to win. Thanks.
I sat in on a few rehearsals at the theatre last week...I think it's coming together, but I'd say they're about a month out of being ready. Too bad it starts next week.
Wonderwa11 -- interesting on two counts. One, you're judging based on the first week of tech rehearsals. If it looks like it's coming together even from the stop-and-start, herky-jerky nature of early tech, I take that as a good sign. Also, even if they are a month away from being ready, that's actually perfect. They open on April 8, so as long as they're ready by April 3rd or 4th or so, they're good to go. PS I'm seeing the show on April 18 so I'm pretty psyched.
Flahooley -- "my friend in the press office"? Sorry, but I'm not buying that. Personally, I'd be shocked (but also thrilled) if the show had an advance of over $10M at this point. So few shows can do numbers even that high anymore. But either way, I've never known press agents to be loose-lipped with their show's numbers, especially before Opening Night and especially when they appear to be as guarded as they've been thus far on TAF. Heck, except for the very top people, most people in a press office have no idea what the show's advance is anyway. Still, if you're right, more power to you (and to them). But "my friend in the press office" is unconvincing as a source.

I always enjoy averagebwaynut posts. I actually feel like I have learned something new after reading them. Keep up the great posts!
averagebwaynut - Nowhere did I say what I mentioned was a bad thing. I agree with you.

NEVERTHELESS, IT'S TRUE. 14 MILLION. PEOPLE WANT TO SEE THIS SHOW.
Flahooley -- well OK, since you have a friend in the press office and since you want us to take his/her/your word as gospel, what's the advance for "Wicked"? Same press office -- do tell...I for one would love to know. :)

I've also seen some of the rehearsals this week. I saw the show in Chicago, and I find it much more entertaining/logical/easy to follow in its current form. Even with the disjointed nature of the tech process, the individual sections look great and I really think it'll come together into a coherent whole. For the most part, I really enjoy the new songs (of which there are quite a few) and nothing has been cut that didn't need to go.
I don't know the exact numbers for the advance, but I know tickets have been selling VERY well and I wouldn't be surprised if the $14 million figure were actually pretty accurate.
