I hate to make another thread on this.
But does anyone else find it funny that about a month ago people weer SO SO SO positive it would be rated R. I mean everyone was certain it would be R.
And I believe I was the only one who proved a point that it could be rated PG 13. And I believe my words were "If the rating does turn out to be PG 13, I will be laughing my ass off" Something along those lines.
Well, I hate to toot my own horn. But I kind've saw this coming.
I just knew they wouldn't make this R, in fear of losing their pre teen/teen audience.
Thank you, and enjoy the rest of your day.

Posted: 9/9/05 at 4:06pmI don't think people took into account that "contact" was cut and that the screenplay was probably altered not to include the f word every five minutes... but even with that a lot of movies in America end up being rated R because of violence. not language or sexuality. that's perfectly fine... and there isn't a lot of violence in rent so a PG-13 rating seems about right.

Actually, ljay, you said:
re: RENT will be rated...what?

I'm sure it'll be R.
But if it turned out PG 13 which I know it most likely wont - I will LAUGH my ass off.
So you were just as wrong as the rest of us.
Wanting life but never knowing how

Posted: 9/9/05 at 4:19pmThe official site for Rent (http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/rent/) still says the film is not yet rated. This site is never updated on a timely manner.

Posted: 9/9/05 at 4:19pmI though maybe it would be rated R due to drug use, sexual content and the F bomb. I am not surprised that is PG-13 due to the amount of fans of the show under the age of 17.

Im so fukcing upset that it's PG13, but I'm glad you're getting pleasure out of my pain.
Now every teenerbopper off of the street is going to be there, not to mention they have to had cut parts. Grrrrrr...

Actually Orange, you should read the thread better.
I believe I gave reasoning why it would be PG 13. Then everyone got on my back how it would be R. So I figured from everyone was saying, it could be R. But I never said I officially thought it would be R.
But I said I would laugh my ass off it was PG 13, and that's EXACTLY what I did.
And that dosen't make me a Rent hater.

Posted: 9/9/05 at 4:40pmI'm sorry... but where does it mention that the movie is PG13?
#11re: *LAUGHS* (Rent Rating...)
Posted: 9/9/05 at 4:40pmMeh. No surprise, really, to me at least. They aren't stupid, they know a large portion of the fanbase is under 17. It's not like it's anything unusual for a film to scramble for a PG 13 rating so they don't lose the teen crowd's money.

Posted: 9/9/05 at 4:50pmWell, when i went to see the touring show children under the age of 14 weren't permitted into the theatre, so i kind of understand the PG13 rating.

Forget Regret <3 and Korenglish,
It was at the bottom of the Sony Pictures Newsletter sent out last night. You needed to be signed up on their mailing list. I'll see if I can post the newsletter.

I'm good... I searched on this board, and I saw the picture.
I actually get email updates, but I didn't check the bottom because I hadn't had a chance to see the "biggest RENThead" thing all week, so I directly went to that.
Anyway, I'm interested to know how they decided RENT was rated R. I honestly thought it should still be R, but maybe they toned it down? I don't know

Posted: 9/9/05 at 5:06pmThe cirteria for rating a film isn't consistent. That said, people are assuming the film was edited for the rating. As far as I know, Columbus went into it assuming they would get an R-rating, so I don't believe he edited it to go for a PG-13. I honestly believe the cutting of Contact was artistic (so-to-speak). It doesn't really serve any type of purpose. But even then I don't think the only concern about the rating would fall with the language. Swearing doesn't make the show, and if you think it does you really aren't getting the message.

Posted: 9/9/05 at 5:09pmI wasn't assuming the Rated R because of the language, but more of the material concerning drugs, sex, ect.

Posted: 9/9/05 at 5:10pmI'm so psyched I won't have to get my mom to take me now. I'll just have her drop me and my friends at the mall multiplex and if she would just learn how to use a Blackberry we wouldn't even have to CALL her so she can come pick us up when its over. I mean, we COULD walk home but then we might miss gymnastics.
