Unless you're a student...there really are none.

re: LEGALLY BLONDE first preview

You can get tickets at a 40% reduction from broadwaybox.com--after "handling fees" etc. you will pay approximately $75. And according to this thread, student rush tickets are available for approximately $25.I am going on May 3rd and am encouraged by all of the positive reactions to the first preview.

re: LEGALLY BLONDE first preview

One of my favorite moments last night was during the second act.

Elle returns to the "Hair Affair" to see Paulette and the doorway, hair dryers and Paulette's area had only rolled about halfway onto the stage before the scene started. Then, when Elle entered through the doors, the hair dryers and Paulette's area continued to move in all the way.

Laura turns to Orfeh and says "Wow. You have a magical place here." and Orfeh responds "Yea," while maintaining her composure. But, it got a huge laugh from the audience.

I saw one of the lighting guys sitting on the stairs in the balcony with his electronic touch pad watching the show. During that mishap he got up and ran downstairs.

re: LEGALLY BLONDE first preview - Loved it!!

Saw it last night with my roommate who has been dying to see it forever. I had no idea what to expect and was extremely pleasantly surprised. Had a blast and thought the cast was terrific. The show is witty, upbeat, and a lot of fun. We laughed a lot. Great talent. Great show. It's going to be a hit.

re: LEGALLY BLONDE first preview - Loved it!!

I hate when people see shows and they say "I LOVE IT!!!! It's not great though, but it deserves to run forever!!" Wtf, is that about? If you like a show stand up for it.

And to say that Curtains won't get a nom is dumb. It didn't get the BEST reviews of the season, but it's by far the biggest success of the new musicals that are currently open. That alone says it has touring potential.

Well, Rentboy, I sort of see where they are coming from. In this case, I think Legally Blonde has its flaws, but I don't care. I love it anyway.

re: LEGALLY BLONDE first preview - Loved it!!

I also saw the second preview tonight (student rush seats) and I really enjoyed it. I agree with some who have said it lies somewhere between The Wedding Singer and Hairspray, and I think that with some work it can be just as good as Hairspray. I found a few scenes/songs to be a little drawn out, especially Michael Rupert's opening number (Blood in the Water) but the great songs mostly compensated for those. The opening number was so catchy and energetic and I loved the way it was staged. Another highlight for me was the Irish step dancing scene... and of course the dogs! The cast was all around extremely strong... I was especially impressed by Laura Bell, Christian, Orfeh and Leslie Kritzer. I look forward to seeing what kinds of changes are made and I hope it has a healthy run!

I don't think anyone's mentioned this yet, but I love the bit in the opening number where the girl in a bathrobe and towel shouts "Wait for me!" from the upper level of the set, then slides down the pole, and by the time she's on the ground, she's in full costume and makeup! I'm assuming it's done with two girls, but it was flawless, and a GREAT trick.

Sitting up close at the first preview, I can tell you that that's actually done with a guy wearing nothing but a super short robe, a facial mask, and a shower cap. Haha - its a VERY funny bit, I laughed quite a bit!

re: LEGALLY BLONDE first preview - Loved it!!

the two main issues i have with the show are also problems i had with the movie...

1. it is easy to "believe in yourself" when you are rich, blonde & beautiful.

2. all the product placement, using commercial taglines as punchlines & referring to corportations as if they were old friends makes me very uncomfortable.

but, to be clear, these are my own cynical issues & not the show's problem.

re: LEGALLY BLONDE first preview - Loved it!!

Not really - n69n totally hit the nail on the head, it IS really easy to believe in yourself when you're rich and beautiful. Not that she doesn't have a lovely arc, but she doesn't have to deal with working "two jobs in addition to class"...

I've always wondered how much money they were getting from Jet Blue & Olive Garden.

re: LEGALLY BLONDE first preview - Loved it!!

The show and the film are about people judging you of a first impression in been able to prove yourself no matter what your Race , sexuality, background or in LB stereotypes.

She was written as a rich girl because they used the stereotype of the typical blonde Beverly hills socialite but the same piece would have worked with a girl from a trailer park.

It gives a positive message that people need to look behind a stereotype or the masks we wear to find the person.

Plus the money she has never came in to it, yes she could by a great wardrobe and the best laptop etc but she had to work to get in and work her arse of to get through the course.

she believed in herself enough to reach her goal

its not brain surgery to figure that out

Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
