Does anyone have pictures of Darin? I never got to see him perform.
i found this one of him.
it's not him performing in lennon, but he's wearing a New York City shirt...

I was there last night and it was very special. First thing to say the cast was particularly emotional, several shedding tears onstage. Here are a couple of highlights.
The Lennon women were in tears when the guys sang Watching the Wheels. At one point Terrence grabbed Will's face and kissed him, bringing laughter from the crowd! That was good, got the Lennon women laughing too.
Terrence was especially good in I Don't Want to Lose You, best I've heard him yet.
Chuck Cooper was in fine form as usual and seemed to be giving a silent prayer at the end of Give Peace a Chance, he closed his eyes, bowed his head and seemed in another place.
Mandy was awesome as usual. So hard to fathom that wonderful belting voice comes from her. She is also the sweetest person. The women as Beatles was so energized.
Chad was in top form too. Mother, always one of my favorite songs, and Chad aced it again. Really like his Lennon accent too.
Michael, incredible voice, the song God was just so mesmerizing. His klansman is hilarious.
Julia looked to be having a lot of fun up there. She seemed loose and I was surprised when she was missing from part of Act Two. I think there was something wrong with her leg? Should be ok though because she was able to perform the rest of the show, so should be in it Sat.
Will, still has John Lennon down pat. He seemed to miss a cue on Give Peace a Chance. He was supposed to yell "Stop The War" and was a bit late, Chuck had to prompt him I think.
Julie has Yoko Ono down pat. She seemed especially sad at Thursday night's show but gave a fine performance. I hear she's close to Marcy so it may be a combination of the show closing and Marcy leaving. Julie's Grow Old With Me was extremely touching, tears streamng down her face. At one point she turned to Marcy and sang her a line from the song.
I'll focus on Marcy since it was her last performance.
Marcy Harriell, what can I say? The woman is spectacular. Woman is the Ni**er of the World was the best I've seen her do with this song, just jawdropping, gave me chills. Something different that I think she did with it last night. Near the end she throws her head back and hits this note, WOW, you could feel the electricity in the air!! She's not a big person and she packs so much into this song, you could see her gathering in the oxygen for it. Julie, Julia and Mandy seemed to be having a wild time on this number too. They sit on the floor and seemed to be itching to get up and dance, they were belting along with Marcy. This cast truly seems to like each other.
Marcy's Elton John and Jerry Rubin were outrageously entertaining as usual, hoping she's back on Broadway before too long. This girl was born for Broadway.
Curtain call was so touching, no speeches, but Terrence Mann interrupted his bow to give Marcy a long hug and they seemed teary.
Stage door, everyone came out and signed. The whole cast seemed down. What a shame. Lennon should have had a long, long run.
Here's to the most talented cast on Broadway! Lennon cast you have my absolute love and admiration and everyone of you deserves to be back home on Broadway soon!
thanks so much for that review showbiz!!
wow.
i can imagine how sad they'd be. that's so cute of julie to sing marcy a line from "grow old with me." i can tell this cast just loves one another.
i can't believe terrence man KISSED will!!! that's hillarious.
chuck cooper does that silent prayer thing every single time. i love it. it's so nice. i think it's really real for him to0. i don't think he just does it because he's told. that's just my opinion, but he seems to be actually praying.
what a shame this show is leaving us all.

I really love all the pix, thanks for posting. Unless I missed it somehow along the thread, I didn't see any of Terry Mann. If you already did, any chance of seeing it again?
Although I recently moved and don't yet have my computer hooked up (thank God, for the library access and sometimes laptop); I am going to see the show tonight and again tomorrow. If I get access, I will post something on the thread about the performances.

I don't know, Chuck seemed to do it much longer last night, he seemed different, bummed out I guess. Maybe the realization is sinking in that Lennon is actually ending.
i can see that.
it's so depressing.
i just talked to my friend who's in NYC right now and gonna see it tonight. i'm so jealous. i'm stuck here in a dorm room writing a paper
mynameinlights...there is already a picture of terry a couple pages back. i'll post another if you'd like.

Showbiz, your update on last night's performance gave me goose bumps. I have seen the show a few times, but the descriptions made me visualize it again. Thanks for writing it. I wish I could have been there to see Marcy again, but I was in school. However, tonight and tomorrow, I...am...there...

thanks, Cathy. i've been following your thread for some time. you've been extraordinarily supportive of lennon, as have all the lennonheads. so sad it's closing, but those who got it, GOT it!

I was also there last night and it was probably the best show yet. Showbiz mentioned most of the things that happened, so i wont repeat them, but just to add a couple of thing:
After "Watching the Wheels" the applause went on for a very very long time. Longer than I've ever experienced after a song. Will kinda just sat there laughing because he couldn't continue with his lines. At one point he said "thank you very much" in an Elvis impression. I was like "wrong show!"
Julia hurt her calf so she wasn't one of the cheerleader and she wasnt out for the party at Jerry Rubin's house. So Marcy had to be the woman who goes to get her coat. When Julia came back out for "Starting Over"she was very pale, and limping slightly but she did a great job finishing off the show. Hopefully she isnt hurt too bad, she'll have to be in the remaining 3 shows even if she is in pain, since her understudy, Nicole, will be going on for Marcy.
Julie always cries real tears during "Grow Old With Me" but tonight she seemed even more emotional and was definately directing much of the song to Marcy.
Saturday night during "Imagine" will be so incredibly sad, it really is a shame that LENNON didnt find its audience in time. Ironically, I wouldnt be surprised if their numbers were way up this week.
For whoever wanted to see pictured of Darin (and the rest of the cast) here are some from Broadway in Bryant Park)
those are such great pics!
i bought one of those New York City shirts the last time i was in NYC! it was last weekend when i saw lennon twice and went to bway on bway. i just had to get one. i love it so much.
thanks phoenix! you're so kind. i do what i can to promote the show i love. and i know it's closing. but it will live on in my heart (however corny that sounds!)
i really hope julia's ok. i'm sure she'll finish the show off with energy and heart as always.
i'm dying to hear about marcy's understudy! all of those going tonight, tell me how it is. it's gonna start in 7 hours!

Great pictures. I didn't know Julie always cries during that song. I thought maybe somewhat, but last night her face was literally streaked in tears, made me cry too. So touching.
yeah she always tears up a little.
but i can imagine that for these last few shows, she's really gonna let it all out.

" There's one bit in the song when they get back together (mental block!) where Will is down on his knees, holding Julie around her hips, and I swear it's the same blocking as Elaborate Lives was. So that, plus the fact that it's Will (Julie did Aida, too, actually), I was all warm and fuzzy at that point."
The song is "Woman," right after the Elton John concert. I get warm and fuzzy anytime Will is on stage (which is pretty much the entire show). It's really a shame that the show is closing so soon in the season because Will definately deserves a Tony nomination. Though with the current attitude on "Jukebox Musicals" and the hits they took with the critics, and the fact that its closing now, I don't think there is much of a chance.
aww, that long post made me sad.
Julia tore something in her leg, but as far as I've heard from someone who spoke with her, she'll be able to perform today and tomorrow to finish things out.
good...i really hope julia is feeling better. can't wait to see her perform again on Saturday night! "Beautiful Boy" is incredible!!
Tell her I love her!
(Kidding. Almost.)
Seriously. I said this last night -- what is up with my favorite actors and leg injuries?! *cry*

What's the name of the song that goes, "yes is the answer"??
how early are you guys getting to the box office on saturday?
julia was so nice at the stage door when i saw the show in previews. she is a real talent and i hope she gets more work fast that showcases her more. too bad this talented cast had to be stuck in such a mediocre show.
She needs her own show. Just Julia, standing on stage, belting her brains out. I don't care what she sings, as long as she does. For hours.
