Another great review from Matt.
I'm glad you enjoyed the show.
That's it, I'm going next week.

I'm still upset that they skipped Boston. Granted, Boston critics probably would have torn it to pieces, possibly killing its Broadway run (a la Sweet Charity), but I would have liked to see it.
I'm glad you liked it, Matt! I really want to see this now, but I'm doubting that will happen.
Yay!! I'm seeing the show on Wednesday and am quite glad to hear that my money is not going to go to waste.

I absolutely agree. I saw it tonight also. The show is so totally about the man and yet it tries to show us a little about ourselves. "AS WE ARE ALL ONE."
Not a Juke box musical at all and I too was skeptical going in but by the time the end of the first act was over I couldn't help but be enamoured with it, taken in by it. The added presence of Yoko Ono in the audience made it even more special. By mid act two I was balling. Crying all over my crisp ironed shirt. The performances were amazing and so heart felt throughout the entire show. Julie Danao-Salkin whose main character being Yoko invokes so much emotion in her voice, every time she opens her mouth you just want to cry. Terrence Mann is stunning and right on, though how could he not be its Terrance Mann. His voice also as on as it ever was. Chad Kimball and Will Chase just have John right down to a T. Its hard to imagine anyone really playing John Lennon. So when these two walk out and take the stage you feel them invoke his spirit, his actions, his voice. Simply Outstanding.
Yoko whos now 72 looked amazing as she rushed out the stage door waving to the crowd.
I can Guarantee I'll be seeing this at least a few more times.
Anyone who can walk into the theatre and say I Hated this show obviously has no clue what just happened on the stage and what its meaning is and must be the most close minded selfish person in the world. PERIOD.
Oh my god. I am SO happy to be reading positive reviews. Y'all have no idea.

By the way get your tickets now is my suggestion. Tonights show was almost completely sold out. I think there might have been maybe 15 seats in the theatre. Get it before you can't word will travel very quickly with this show.

Please. It's a very ambitious cruise ship revue. With no Beatles music. We never know why Lennon became a radical. Yoko is portrayed as a glacial saint --- why not, she controls the show? The breakup of the Beatles occurs in one testy, hissy fit scene from Paul. The only number that really lands is Chris Cooper's Instant Karma. Woman Is The n* of the World is juiced up to Jennifer Holliday levels, which is embarrassing.
I don't think the show will go far -- farther than Good Vibrations, maybe. And tonite was heavily papered.
"With no Beatles music."
...what? How is that a complaint? One, it does have Beatles music. Two, it's not about the group; it's about one member of it.

rawleygirl, this show isn't about the Beatls, its about Lennon - hence the title. I hate when ppl go in expecting a Beatles revue, he did more than just that. That's what this show is about.

i'm glad to hear good things about Julie Danao... i saw her about three years ago when she was the standby for Amneris in AIDA in the national tour... not your typical looking Amneris but she was killer in that role... glad she's doing well
I am also extremely happy to read positive reviews! I LOVED the show when it was in SF. I wish I can see it when I go to NYC this Sept but I have no time.

Forgive me if this has already been answered, but how long do previews last?
Glad to hear you liked it - wife and I are going tonight! She's a BIG Terrence mann fan, haven't seen him onstage since Les Mis closing!

Matt,
How much did you pay for your ticket?
Where did you sit?
How good was the view of the stage from your seat? Was it a direct view of the stage, clear and unobstructed?
The sound quality--was it good, bad, or adequate?
Do you have a "Playbill" available?
I'm going this weekend, and despite Matt's review, I'm still a bit skeptical. I'm only going for Julia Murney, so I'm glad to hear that she is terrific, if underused. I'll post my review after I see it.
Look forward to what you think, MEF!
I really hope that I like it. I want to like anything that Julia does.

Thanks, Matty.
I had hoped to base my purchasing decisions regarding LENNON on the answers you provided.
Can't wait to hear from you after you attend the "1st Preview" of the next musical that opens.
What is that, and when will that be?
Cheers!
Bought my tickets when they first went on sale (via AMEX presale - NOW you can discount tickets, of course). Paid full price. Sitting in Row BB, hoping that it's not too close (I hate it when the stage is way too high, and since I'm not an NBA player I can't see below the waists of some of the performers on stage). Will let you know what I (and wife) think after tonight....

I too saw the show last night. I also saw it in San Francisco. I think they added what they needed to add to the show for Broadway. It has so much more energy than in San Fran. I think some parts are a bit hokey, but I think the talent is so strong, the music is obviously fantastic and this can connect with a tourist audience (whom this show needs to survive). Kudos to the cast and the creative team.

Oh my! I bet that cause a real stir. Were you arrested for having sex in public?
This is a perfect example of why people should learn to spell the words they mean CORRECTLY. Honestly, this board is starting to look like it was taken over by a bunch of rednecks who never passed the fourth grade.
As for Lennon, I still have zero interest in this show. It sounds better than Brooklyn and may run a little longer, but I don't see this one really sparking much public interest.
