Yea for good reviews! I wanted so much for this show to be amazing. As you may know, I started a thread a few days ago saying I was nervous. It made me feel so much better that Matt, another Lennon fan like me, enjoyed it so much.
That's it, I'm getting tickets!
do you think Lennon will be on TDF during previews? I have been checking every day and it is not there. Even DRS was on tdf during previews...I'll wait a week or two before spending $75 on discounted orchestra seats.
By the way, I'm seeing the first preview of The Blonde in the Thunderbird tonight...will post my review when I get home.
I'd imagine it'll be on TKTS, WithoutATrace. And I can't wait to hear your thoughts on The Blonde in the Thunderbird. I'm going to the first preview of Primo tonight and will also post a review.

Lennon was on TKTS last night for the first preview.
Ok. I haven't gone on the TKTS line since 2000 when I saw Jekyll & Hyde. I would like to see Lennon in early August...I am going with a co-worker. If I am going in the middle of the week, say a Thursday night, and I get to the TKTS booth by 5:30pm, is there usually a long line? Will I be able to get the tickets and still have time for dinner? I know when I am in Times Sqaure on Saturday or Sunday, the TKTS line is ridiculously long, but I have never attempted getting tickets via TKTS in the middle of the week. Any advice would be great...thanks!
Nice review, I might actually see this now. It's too bad one of the moderators had to jump on and try to make a mockery of the review. That's great PR for this site.
Matt, do you know if they are planning on recording this show?
Like a moth drawn to the light........
Looks like I may need to add this show to my list in the fall when I am in NYC. Glad to hear a positive review.
I hear that it's just a show about glasses.
Sammy, I believe it was "recorded" last night. Now whether or not there will be an OFFICIAL cast recording remains to be seen.
Oh? You were there too Suleen?
We SF posters gave this board good reviews about the show too....what, you have to wait for a New Yorker to enjoy the show to believe that it's actually any good? And I beleive there was more than one SF poster that told everyone that it was NOT jukebox musical material.
That said, I am glad the audiences are enjoying the show and I hope people continue to realize this is not a "Beatles Jukebox Musical".
Can Matt or somebody else who was there last night please provide an approximate running time? Thanks in advance.
What's the deal with having to know running times of shows? Does it have something to do with public transportation needs, or is it something else?
Personally, I'm just curious. In my case, I use it to coordinate a few things. For example, if it is a longer show, that would factor into whether I eat before or after the show, and whatnot.
How are the arrangements of the songs? Is there any super-pop-belt stuff or are we in Piazza territory?
Any big group numbers?
When it was in SF, there was a super belt song "Woman is the n* of the World" and I think it was Marcy or Mandy who sang it there...outstanding version of the song.
All the voices were powerhouse, and the reviews coming in sound like they are just as powerhouse in NY.
Running times are useful in figuring out when we might get home - if it lets out when everything else lets out, traffics horrible goin back to NJ (then I head up to the GWB)!
It's usually the first thing wife asks me on the way into the city - did you check the running time?
Thanks for the answers MEF and Ken!
So anyone know the approx running time? I can't find it listed....

Isn't everyone tired of the jukebox musical yet? Two words...."Good Vibrations".
Isn't everyone tired of people who haven't seen "Lennon" branding it a jukebox musical?
If it doesn't appeal to you, fine, but I think it's been said in pretty much every thread about "Lennon" that it is not really a jukebox musical. It uses John Lennon's words and songs to tell his life story, unlike, say "Good Vibrations" or "Mama Mia," both of which used the songlist of a particular band and plugged it into a (flimsy) story framework.
