I think I'd take issue with it if they touted Les Miz as "The Longest Running Musical Ever" (maybe they're doing that in some places...I wouldn't put it past them). Everything I've been seeing, though, says "World's Longest Running Musical", which does sort of imply that they mean of the musicals "currently running"--at least, it conveniently falls in a sort of loophole where it doesn't necessarily mean either thing. The art of the tagline is that it isn't explicitly present tense...they phrased it in such a way that they don't need it to be. You have to admit, "World's Longest Running Musical" sounds a hell of a lot more impressive than "Yes! This Is The Show That Has Become The Longest-Running Of Any Production On Broadway Or The West End, Even Though This Isn't Exactly The Same Production!"
I think both are technically correct, but it's clear which one makes Les Miz sound better.

I think its just i'm determined to have it in for Mr. Mackintosh. And I still think I shall do something about it. Pay special attention to the sidewalks in early January . . .

Posted: 10/6/06 at 11:25pmI SAW THE LES MIZ LOAD-IN TONIGHT! HUGE ENORMOUS TRUCKS WITH THE LES MIZ LOGO WERE PARKED OUTSIDE THE BROADHURST THEATER AND THE LOAD-IN WAS TAKING PLACE! PROPS, SCENERY AND WHO KNOW WHAT WAS BEING BROUGHT INTO THE THEATER. IT WAS MIGHTY COOL!

I work across the street, and I swear I've never seen such a huge load-in on that street. Three 18-wheelers, two of which have the logo and Les Miserables plastered across the side. They've been out there for at least three days, taking over the entire street and sidewalk. People walking to Phantom tonight where stepping over huge pieces of metal to get down the street. It's taking over!
FYI - went to Jacques Brel tonight to see Drew one last time. Who's in the audience together but Norm Lewis and - random sighting - Michael T. Weiss of The Pretender and Jeffrey (and another guy). Don't know what they were doing together, but I'm sure there's a certain populace on this board who can certainly have fun imagining...*drool*
