Re: "this is horrible!i have tickets for march 25th at 2...and its canceled!!!!"
It would be more horrible if you actually saw the show! Get a refund now before it's too late!!!!!!!!!
Well, the show has turned out to be a cash cow for eBay sellers, so there's a perk -- you can grab playbills!
Wait a minute. This reminds me of something. Hmmmmmmm...where have I seen a vampire musical before get delayed? And i remember something about it not doing very well. HMMMMMMMMM...I simply can't remember? :)
oooh! I have 2 playbills, e-bay here I come, once it's officially cancelled of course!
Hell, I already made $45 selling two playbills while the show WAS STILL RUNNING in SF! So good luck to you. Honestly. Though you probably won't need it. :)
not bad, maybe I can recoup the cost of the tickets. :P
are the original director and choreographer out now that the wonderful Jonathon Buttrell is Involved?
wow, I just looked at ticketmaster.com and would've been able to get row M Orchestra for the first available performance. If it opens, see it quick if you must, and if you don't mind blowing your money on incredibly wasted talent! This ain't gonna last long!

"More than that, name a succesful singing vampire."
Steve Barton, Kevin Tarte and Thomas Borchert: Count von Krolock in the most phenomenal musical in the history of Germany, also premiered in the home of music in 1997 (and no, for the last time, it is nothing like the dreck which ended up on Broadway) "Tanz der Vampire das Musical"
How about a successful singing American vampire?
(Note: This does not include any Americans cast in a Stella production. )

I meant on Broadway.
Conclusion... Broadway + Singing Blood Suckers = NO

how sad it is to kill a show before it even debuts on Broadway. Critics are viscious and so are the people on this board.

I do think this is the point to mention the (not so) Smartful Dodger, who on the first thread aces25 created about the first 2 weeks being off sale said:
The show is still scheduled to start previews on the 11th and is actually SOLD OUT until 25 March. Good grief, people!
Yes, good grief indeed. Furthermore, on another thread aces started, querying the sold out/delayed status of Lestat's first two weeks, Smartful made this kind offer:
Send me a PM and I'll make sure you get a ticket for the 11th. I want to put you out of your misery. And, end these threads.
So Smartful, can I still PM you for a ticket to Lestat on March 11th?

Thanks for clarifying that
Hey, I humbly confess my optimism clouded any possibility in my mind that a delay (possible cancellation) could happen. And, honestly, after checking as many sources as possible earlier this week, there was no confirmation -- not even from Ticketmaster.
Last night, however, I apologized to Aces25 on PM, despite the offer to purchase a ticket. And, immediately called Ticketmaster to ensure my prompt refund.
Honestly, I think the creative team has been hampered by the complexities of trying to create a product at the same time WB Theatricals flexes its muscle as a viable business venture.
Think back to the early 1990s. The natural evolution of Disney's business from theme park and other "spectacle" productions to Broadway seemed natural because the company understood the required care and feeding needed to produce live theatre. Admittedly, they played it safe with BEAUTY AND THE BEAST but went all out and risked a ton with Taymor's vision for THE LION KING.
Unfortunately, WB doesn't have the in-house experience or talent -- not in Burbank, not in New York -- needed to negotiate this kind of effort, despite having an "all-star" creative team with proven track records.

Are we so bitchy that we are celebrating the possible demise of a show that will put a ton of people out of work? Oh wait - we are. :) (I say this with love.)
I'm sorry this show isn't working out and I hope there is a way to fix it.

It's sad if a lot of people end up being put out of work if this fails, but it's even sadder that audiences will have to pay to see it. If people are put out of work, it's because the show is bad, which it was in SF, and that is the fault of the producers and creative team, not the critics or the people who have posted here.
blaxx....I saw Dracula with Frank Langella twice on Broadway. Great show! Sat in the second row the first time and to see his eys do that thing they do, shifting side to side, was really creepy and worked so well!

I just got off the phone with the head of WB Theatricals and he told me the official reason for the delay was because aces thread titles are always in capital letters, even if they're not important topics.
You see, aces? You brought this on yourself.

Oh, what an honor, indeed...
maybe since their taking the time to rework it...it will be better???

After watching LESTAT, I could see how it could work on stage. So doubters and non-believers of a vampire musical might want to bite their tongues. The music, for the most part, is bad, but I could see with that and some of the staging revamped (no pun) and a slight retooling of the story, it could be a great musical. I repeat: a great musical
