I'm really looking forward to Liza on the Actors Studio show. But I doubt it will bring any startling new insight about her life. Whenever I've seen her interviewed, I get the feeling she's either in denial or being totally dishonest about a lot of things. The way I see it, this show is supposed to give us insight into how the personal & professional lives of its guests impact their creativity. I doubt that people interested in Liza will ever get to know her real story, unless Mike Wallace gets her on 60 Minutes.

Really? I have seen lots of interviews in which she talks candidly about alcholism, addiction, being the daughter of famous parents and so on. And according to two posters who were there for this interview.. she talked openly about everything. I do hope they talk more this time about the shows, the work that went into the movies, and her live performances. I think she has been candid enough about her life. I understand she cracked two jokes about Gest but was not allowed by lawyers to be more detailed on that. What else do you want from the poor woman?

Glinda is right. This is a 2 hour kiss up with James Lipton and Liza sings as well, which means, they must not have had a lot to talk about. Liza will never tell the truth and she has no children to write books. She can live the rest of her days and nobody will ever know the whole story. What happened to the divorce from Gest? They could have went to Mexico and got it done - such bru-ha-ha and no orgasm! I might not watch this, I wont break any dates to see it.

To each his own. I am more interested in the "show" talk and industry talk than the Gest talk. But if that does not interest you.. then just pick up a copy of National Enquirer.. ( Clay Aiken was outed you know) .

Ohhh, you gotta love, Jim!
I think Liza is just someone fun watching, she is a diva and yet she can be so out there sometimes, I am really looking forward to this interview. It kind of sucks she doesn't have kids, it'd be really great to know the truth. Perhaps tat'll be Lorna Luft's next book.

How about Liza just come clean about herself, her life and just - nevermind, You are too far off in "Sally Bowles Land" to even smell it. Love that Judy Garland, Don't ya? I wonder why Judy's dad was gay and Judy married gay men and Liza's dad was gay and Liza marries gay men?

A little harsh don't you think? Some people have different opinions on what Liza should reveal about herself but to be honest, its Liza's choice. I love the woman, her mother and her sister for their talent. Yeah we all love gossip but control yourself alittle...privacy is nice too.

Actually.. Not big on Judy. I don't dislike her.. but really not big on her. I have liked Liza since I saw her perform live at the Condado beach Hotel ( thats the name of the place now) in San Juan Puerto Rico when I was 8.

I think Liza is a very nice person, but she is a phoney and she has lost some of her luster. With the recent passing of her mentor and friend Fred Ebb, she will continue to loose it.

I just saw her perform live in Atlanta. She was fantastic. The only luster to have faded is probaly due to her addictions and 4 surgerys. ( hips and brain). I think the lady is doing great. And LOVED HER in "Arrested Development."

What does it mean the truth when you talk about big artists private live?
In many cases facts and truth most of the time are contradicting each other.
Are people watching "Cabaret" or "Judy's shows" need to know that Liza wanted a hot dog on the way to rehab or drunk Judy ran after her son with a knife.Does it helps to open the artistic personality? or just helps to satisfy empty curiosity of people who don't know any better than to follow someones else private life.
Does Liza owe us to tell what she went through in her life?I think one fact that she is still here full of life and even performing tells the truth that all stories from NE or Lorna's book can't deny.And I am sure that if she would have children they would never write something close to Lorna's book.It looks like little Lorna decided to help millions of others with addictions problem,sacrificing private life of her mother and sister.I doubt that Judy would be proud,but it's another topic.
Each artist is different,Liza's way to cope with this life is putting a happy face no matter what is going on in reality.This attitude had help her to live to this age,her mother by the way didn't make it-No Betty Ford centers,I doubt it.
Who we are to blame her or judge her? She made many people lives much happier.Personally I am grateful and I can get over the fact that she doesn't want wide public to know how she ended up in mental ward one crazy night.It's her private life for God's sake.

I wholeheartedly agree with Jerry2. Liza's life is her life, it is not ours to judge or even ours to ask what or why. If she choses to share the information, then thats her business but is certainly no ones perogative on this board to stand in judgement of her. You have not walked in her shoes, or lived her private or public life. Being so narrow minded as many of you are is worse than anything you have accused her of. Take stock in her amazing talent, in her lust for life, in her courage to keep going. She is an example of a survivor. Had she not been through what she has she would be LIZA. So, some of you need to give it a rest.

Liza is a real legend. She is the queen. She was brilliant and moved me like she always does. Lipton didn't even talk about "The Rink" and her run in "Victor Victoria" , just a few words about "Flora" and her Off Bway debut. When they went through her career they just showed her films. Lipton should focus a little more on the theatrical side of the actors he interviews, after all he is a theatre teacher, right?(not sure if he is a teacher)
