don't quote me on this, but i've heard nederlander stage hands will strike as well even though they are not part of this dispute. in solidarity is what i've been hearing from nederlander workers.

We have been told to take our stuff with us everynight for like two months.
One way or another, someone needs to Sh*t or get off the pot.
Local One knows this is a bad time for a strike, look at last weeks numbers.

It does seem like negotiating is getting nowhere. Calling a strike now may or may not save the Holiday Season. It could be considered thoughtful on the Union's part. Though I fear it will be longer than anyone could hope for.

I'm sorry some of you might miss a show. I think though, looking at the shows sales, patrons are already getting nervous about the state of shows in New York. If we are lucky, it will end before the Thanksgiving Rush or at least before December.

St. Martin seems like just a tool. Too bad. What must have been thrown back to the Union must have been pretty bad for them to start striking before December.

What kind of logic is there, for the League to force a strike, to protect themselves from a future slow market, when the market is so good right now? Well, would have been, if they didn't threaten a Lock-out to begin with. That is what prompted the need for a Strike vote. It's the League once again, cutting their own throats and being promised a whole lot of nothing from people who offer empty promises with no results. Your wonderful representation has managed to put the League into a sink hole rather than keep Broadway afloat.

Hold onto your receipts. Some good shows off-Broadway so don't lose all hope. With Nederlander joining the League, it will be a great year for the Non-Profits and hey, they can probably make better use of your money right now.

The Playbill article makes it sound like they're going to strike the 13th but others have said Dec. 1st, so which seems more likely at this point?

EugLoven, did you read anything in this thread? The union posted that at 5:30 and this development came after 7pm. I also had heard that the union will shut down the road companies AND sit-down productions as well. The strike is going to happen, they are meeting today to decide when to actually hold it. It will either start tomorrow OR on Tuesday. The Nederlanders will be locking out the union should they strike, though I think most shows in Nederlander houses are produced by at least one member of the League and would have been shut down regardless.

I agree. That date was established as doomsday, and that they would strike no matter what on that date. That didn't mean they wouldn't strike any earlier.

Out of luck, but refunds will have to be given.

The producers of Spelling Bee are members of the League so it might be affected. But that brings up an interesting question: since the shutdown will include the tours, why are these other Broadway shows not going to be affected? Technically, the tours shouldn't being going on strike, but the union wants solidarity. So why wouldn't they make these last remaining theatre stagehands strike as well? Or will they, and the media simply isn't aware of it.
