LONELY, I'M NOT - A Really Wonderful New Play!

I saw this last night at Second Stage and fell in love with it. It's a fantastic new romance/dramedy that my friends and I completely fell in love with (and it don't hurt that Topher Grace is even hotter in person).

Curious on anyone else's thoughts.

You're the first person I've heard say anything remotely nice about this. I was going to go, but several people told me it was so bad it really wasn't worth wasting my time on it.

It just seems like every summer 2nd Stage puts out these dramedies that are bad indie movies.

The plot reads like "Garden State," which makes my first impulse to not see it and then burn it with a burning machine.

Several friends described it is a bad wannabe indie flick. Maybe it should stuck to that medium.

But I do quite enjoy Topher Grace.
But I do also quite not enjoy Trip Cullman.

I have time for just for one more show during my week-long trip to NYC in a couple weeks and I'm really having a hard time deciding between this and Nice Work.

I saw this play the other night. It's a charming, often touching 90-minute drama with abundant dashes of comedy. Topher Grace has great timing, and his expressions convey a great deal beyond the sharp dialogue. He and Olivia Thirlby are very right for their roles--you do really come to care about their characters--and the supporting cast, in numerous roles, are so good they almost steal the show. Not a great play but entertaining enough to hold my attention.

See, I think Trip is cute, but not much of a director, and Topher Grace strikes me as nothing more than a skinny Helen Hunt. (And I don't like Helen Hunt.)

I saw Helen Hunt at ONCE the other night and she looks nothing like Topher Grace.

I saw it this afternoon and I agree with Jordan. I really, really enjoyed it! It's sweet, charming, oddly touching, and the cast is very good. Random, but I also loved the neon words that divided every scene. I thought it would wear itself out after a while, but it was a nice little touch. I had a very enjoyable time! It didn't come off as a wannabe indie flick at all to me. Then again, I think Paul Weitz is a fantastic writer. I almost always enjoy his work.
