Well, as long as Webber promised a Broadway transfer to Sierra Bogess, I'm sure she has nothing to worry about.

Ummm really? Like Dolly just said, Webber once promised Patti LuPone a role, and he gave it to someone else. Not to mention she was contracted and everything. As much as I love Andrew Lloyd Webber's work, a promise from him means nothing.

Am I the only one who assumed the "I'm sure she has nothing to worry about" was dripping in sarcasm?

I don't think it's something the Phantom would write; it is the sort of tune he would mock -- where is the avant-garde Phantom who wrote in dissonant whole-tone scales as in Phantom? Did he lose his talent as well as his love in the intermittent 10 years?

Well, the Phantom supposedly wrote the song "Past the Point of No Return", which is just as schmaltzy as Love Never Dies. And less interesting, I think.

I also have always assumed that the character was supposed to have written "The Music of the Night," which is also pretty far from "avant-garde" and "dissonant" (just ask the Puccini estate how original they felt the song was).

Didn't the Phantom also get over his sociopathic, homicidal tendencies in the time between the two shows, too?

"I'm not sure how things have changed in terms of contracts, etc. but initially I think Sierra and Ramin were signed/promised for a Broadway prodcution."

Signed and Promised for a Broadway Production by The Really Useful Group (Sir Lloyd Webber) LOL...Patti Lupone were also signed and promised for Broadway too...look what happen there...

If it ever comes over I feel Sierra is a given, unless she is busy at the time, Ramin has tweeted that when le leaves the london show later he will not be donning the mask after he does the 25th anniversary concert, so there is a chance he may not be offered the role, but who knows, if it happens, Also, you would have to see what Equity deal may be made to get Ramin to come over, I believe he is Canadian so that may help.

It wont happen till 2013 earliest depending too on the availability of a nederlander theatre (unless they change and go to a shubert house) I'm not even sure what house will work well based on the Melbourne design. Yes the design may be altered, but from what I;ve seen, they would need a house with a lot of FOH space unless they will end up with a show with many partial view seats.
I feel it would 'look' good in the Palace or even maybe it can fit into the Lunt. Idealy it would 'look' best in the Broadway but that's not a Nederlander house. If Catch Me does not pick up they may very well end back at the Simon.

From what I've been reading and seeing of the Melbourne production, looking good is what LND does best. They've gone all out with the staging. I think a few lyrics have been changed, but as far as I can tell from a distance, the show's book still tells the same story, and that story (and some of the characterizations) has been the show's main weakness from the beginning. I don't think there is a snowball's chance in hell that Lloyd Webber will allow the Phantom sequel story to be changed in any significant way.

I doubt he will either, and people keep suggesting he abandon the idea that the show should be even realted to phantom, and just a triangle of 3 random people, which would never work either because you would have to spend the whole first act introducing characters and building up a relationship with the audience.

It's unfortunate that if you were to take out the whole father son thing and the whole who is the daddy, there isnt a story. So I believe for there to be one, people just have to get over what supposedly happened that night long ago. Maybe the focus then should be about how people change, and you think you know someone but over time that person can totally change, and those things do happen.

Pluss I do think the average tourist wont get that bent out of shape about characterization changes, they just want a nice nite out.
