I love this woman!
She can complain all she wants to.

Posted: 10/2/06 at 10:52amWhat a waste of time. So much for Patti being remotely spiritual. Her tirade about a customer service rep and calling them an a#@hole makes me feel very sorry for her. Transcend some light my dear Patti. In the big picture, it's not worth it.

Yikes. I love the woman's work, but Bitter, Party of One!
Oh well. We've all been unhappy at a time.

Posted: 10/2/06 at 11:03amProud of all the rights my country affords me and Patti. :)I wasn't complaining about her, just judging her. There is a difference. :)

EDIT - A bit harsh in hindsight.
BTW - many companies will invalidate PIN and passwords if they have not been used for a long period of time in order to protect the cardholder. It may be a pain in the ass, but it is not uncommon for cards PINs/passwords to be invalidated if they have not been used for an extended period of time.

Posted: 10/2/06 at 11:20amYes but they're supposed to notify you when they do that kind of thing. They just don't cancel it and then have no idea what happened when you called. I hate dealing with banks and cable companies. Guys you seriously need to chill out LOL. It's called a rambling for a reason. Self-involved, self-important?! It's HER website. What she did was essentially what everyone does on Myspace, Facebook and Friendster; Blog about stupid random stuff. It's not that big of a deal...

Posted: 10/2/06 at 11:32amWell, she was embarassed first of all--anyone would be. And who doesn't find it frustrating to talk to Customer Service Reps? Having been a receptionist more times than I'd ever care to mention, I WILL say that being nice to the other person on the phone goes a long way. Maybe Patti forgets how much those jobs suck and wasn't as nice as SHE could have been either.

Customer service these days is awful. You either have to go through a long series of prompts only to find out that the call center is closed or you have the wrong 800#. Then, if you are lucky enough to get through, you get someone in India who reads canned responses and then promises you a call back that never comes. I used to be a Customer Service Rep and then a manager at a large corporation back when we did not get off the phone until the problem was resolved. Sadly, those days are over.
Go get 'em, Patti!

Posted: 10/2/06 at 11:46amI have had terrible problems with B of A. They once cancelled my card without calling me because they had thought that it was used fraudulently because I was travelling to another city. Bank of America has the worst customer service. You go Patti!

Posted: 10/2/06 at 11:48amYa know what, y'all? Patti freakin' rocks. I have dealt with Bank of America's Customer Service time and time again. They *never* have their acts together. They never have a clue. Thanks for speaking up, Patti. We all have things that happen like this in our everyday lives and Patti's just reminding us that they happen to everyone. Amen, sista.

And, what are the odds that something was sent to her at home and it was never read by her or her assistant?
The people on the other end of the phone usually have very little authority, and by security rules developed for the system and to protect the customer, cannot go back to a PIN or Password that has been invalidated.
It is fine to rail against Bank of America - but the person on the other end of the phone is usually the lowest person on the food chain, and are given very little flexibility.
You want to rail against Bank of America - fine. But usually, the folks on the other end of the phone are not "impervious assholes", they are just entry level folks trying to do a really ****ty job. When I have had issues, I have asked for a manager, or a manager's manager and gotten up the food chain. Usually the person you get on the other end of the phone when you first get through is not someone who can do anything but read from a script or answer specific questions.

Ahh, Patti. I've screamed at people in banks too. People on this board b*tch so much, they shouldn't complain when Patti does too. I laughed, and that's good enough for me.

I have no problem with b*tching - I just try to do it to people who actually have some control over the decisions or processes I am complaining about.
I have worked with Customer Service folks - so perhaps I am just a wee bit more defensive on their behalf. Most of them really do want to try and help but cannot modify standard procedures without the consent of a manager.
When I have had problems where I think the company is at fault, I have actually gone to the PR number for a bank or credit card company, called the corporate offices, and then asked for the name and number of their general counsel and contacted someone in the legal/compliance department. It usually is a more satisfying and amusing process.

Posted: 10/2/06 at 1:24pmPatti, don't let it upset you. Andrew Loyd Webber paid BOA to cancel your pin just to push you over the edge. Hang in their Pats. I've got a call into Barclay's that will mess with his home mortgage interest rate.
