Hey, everyone. My Internet is not working on my other computer, so I have not been here for awhile. Anyways, I might be seeing La Cage Aux Folles March 23rd. I am thrilled that I may possibly be seeing Daniel Davis and Gary Beach. Daniel was great as the butler in the Nanny and I adore Gary Beach on my BatB and Producers recordings. Also Gavin Creel! Again! Some questions:
1) Going with school. We'll probably get rear mezz seats. Is the view good? I sat in the rear mezz (last row) at the Lunt-Fontanne, and I remember seeing everything pretty well, is it anything like that? I've actually have been to the Marquis before and am thrilled to be returning.
2) You know how Producers has Springtime for Hitler and 42nd Street has 42nd Street as huge dancing/singing numbers? Anything like that in La Cage? I plan to get the cast recording, what are some amazing songs that are wonderfully performed?
Anything would be great - am very excited. This definitely seems different from anything else I've seen, not having been to Broadway as much as some of you guys have. Thanks!
the rear mezz is perfect at the Marquis.. dont mind sitting there at all!!
Also, there are so many huge numbers in La Cage, especially the title number.. you will not believe what you see!
Go and Enjoy :)

I really do think you will love it. If we have eargasms, this would be considered an eyegasm. The visuals are truely stunning. Oh, and the Cagelles (sp?) are amazing!
I actually just saw the show on Tuesday. It was simply amazing, and I can't think of there actually being a bad seat for that show. The rear mezzanine wasn't even filled when I saw it...
The choreography in that show is amazing. It's the one time I've ever actually wanted to be a guy just so I could be in that chorus.
Enjoy La Cage
Almost every number in LA CAGE is a huge spectacle.
SOOO excited..a week from saturday!!

you will love it unabashedly as i did! you're seats will be fine. every number is great but the real great ones are we are what we are, la cage aux folles, i am what i am and the best of times. you will leave humming them! please do yourself a favor and see this show!
Blah, I don't mean to rain on the parade but I think it's one of the worst revivals I've ever seen...so uninspired and bland.
But I hope you enjoy it!
Sadly there will not be a recording of this show unless the producers change their minds. PLEASE sign this petition immediately. You don't have to register or anything like that - it won't take you more than a minute or two to sign. All we're doing is letting them know that there IS an audience for a recording of this wonderful cast. (You'll see what I mean when you see the show. It's really incredible - despite what Munk says! lol)

mamie, maybe you can anwer this. i'm just confused as to why the producers wouldn't want a new cast recording. this show is a very big success. maybe not the smash hit it was back in 84, but it's still an amazing show and it doesn't make sense to me that they wouldn't want to let daniel and gary record their wonderful job, also michael benjamin who i thought stole the show! i mean especially when it comes to tony time they're going to want to shop around a cd so that voters can remember the lead performances? and the overall show i would think. i'm just really hurt that this recording is not in the works. i really would like it to be.
I have no idea why the producers of this show would not even consider a CD. You'll note that I've also posted on my frustration with the nearly complete lack of publicity for the show as well. It's as if they decided on the day it started in previews that they weren't going to support it. (More conservative Republican backlash?)
I've been told that the decision not to make a CD was entirely financial. This reasoning seems to fly out the window when you look at the shows that have been recorded (or soon will be recorded) on CD. Half are shows that haven't even opened yet and others are for shows that have been almost universally panned. Still, this show, with this beautiful music and wonderful singers, can't get a recording.

And yet Brooklyn gets a recording. ???
I think that the BROOKLYN recording has to do with the people behind that show and their delusions of grandeur ("BROOLYN is this season's WICKED...").

the producers of brooklyn said they were this year's wicked? are they dillusional? maybe they don't know how to read box office numbers including attendance percentages and profits. i didn't mean to get mad at you, i thought you were saying that mef.
Of course the producers of BROOKLYN are delusional. If they weren't, the show would have closed by now.
Of course they're going to say that they are the season's Wicked. They'll say anything to get you to buy tickets to their show.
It's a bad thing for Producers to trumpet their show through every possible means? What planet do you live on?

Just remember: What happens at La Cage, stays at La Cage.
HaHa @ Dollypop. Does anyone know or know of Paul Canaan? I saw his picture on the far left of the show and I saw pics of him at the opening and just wondered...I was part of a group that did a Q&A with him after a NYC tour...anyone else do that with him?
At first I wasn't interested in La Cage, but one day I went to broadway.com and saw a video clip, and now I'm in love... :) When Daniel Davis came on the screen I went... "NILES!!! It's Niles!" The Nanny happens to be one of my favorite TV shows. :) I need to look for tickets.... Hope you have fun!
