It seems James Lapine is adding new dialogue and new music to Sunday in the Park with George maybe that is the real reason they are not allowing Tony award consideration. Actors were handed new script and music. Purists won't be happy about that.
They are allowed consideration, they took themselves out of the running...
Source?
And what has one to do with the other? Are you implying they know the additions/changes aren't good?
Lapine adding new music?? Stop making crap up. At the concert, the young actress playing Louise was added to act two's 1984 scenes and she had a funny line. That was the only change.
What Sondheim revival hasn't made some alteration to the material?
Personally, I'd like to see George's monologue after "It's Hot Up Here" reinstated. It's a gorgeous monologue, though I understand why it was cut.

Please stop making sh*t up, behindthescenes2. The only "new music" is some new orchestrations for the Chromolume sequence, plus now that they have 4 ensemble members (as they did at City Center, but not in the original Broadway production), the orchestral arrangements are being lightly revised. No "re-writing" of the show.
Thanks, Minnie! You are a trusted source when it comes to this production.
Do you know if they are keeping the two additional musicians that were added for the City Center concert?

Are you referring to the monologue about the Chromolume that comes after the vocal collage with all the act one characters, or was there another monologue that was cut?
Thank you, behindthescenes2. It's been too long since I read a post ridiculous enough to actually make me laugh out loud.
