Last Minute Ticket Question

I will be arriving in NYC (LGA) at the end of this month on at Saturday at 12 pm. I figure if all goes well I can get into Times Square area by 1 PM. If that happens I would like to catch a show and was wondering if I am better off just going to the box office of a theater or the TKTS line. In addition, what shows do you think might be available at that late time? I was hoping maybe something like "Bandstand" would be available. I really don't care where I sit for afternoon show, already got tickets for "Dear Evan Hansen" that evening.

Last Minute Ticket Question

I would enter into a bunch of lottos the evening before/morning of (depending on when they close submissions), as that would be the easiest way to snag seats.

Barring a win on that, try TodayTix or TKTS if you don't have any show in particular you'd like to see. It seems unlikely to me that with an hour/hour and a half before a performance starts many box offices would have anything.

My, you're an optimistic fellow! The line is pretty short close to curtain, so it could definitely work out for you.

Last Minute Ticket Question

I've walked up to box offices 5-10 minutes before show time and have mostly walked away with good/cheap tickets. Latest show was War Paint last week. You'll definitely be able to get Bandstand.

Last Minute Ticket Question

YankeeFan, Bandstand is on Broadwaybox and Theatremania for discounts. Why don't you print out a copy of the offer to present at box office just in case you are running late. TKTS maybe a better discount, but I think your time is going to be very limited.

Artman - Thanks for the advice, I think it is the best option. We know there is decent chance of not making in in time for afternoon show but wanted to plan ahead if all goes well.

Last Minute Ticket Question

Dramamam611 - We are not checking bags and are in the front of the plane so we should get out pretty quickly to the cab line. I understand anything can happen with NYC traffic but thought it would be a good idea to have a plan in case we can make it. I will check us into the hotel (Marriot Marquis) and my wife can head to the box office. If we don't make it, plenty of things to do in NYC - lol

Last Minute Ticket Question

Phan24, were the last-minute tickets cheap? I really want to see Bandstand tonight but can't get to midtown before 7. I looked online and there's still tons of seats available, and I'd feel like a real chump for spending $70 on a seat I could've paid $35 for.

Do you think it's worth trying the box office an hour before the show, would they still have cheap tickets?

Last Minute Ticket Question

Yes, I would definitely go to to the box office if I were you, I'm sure they'll have some left at rush price ($35), but I could obviously be wrong. Just make sure you are asking for rush tickets/cheapest available straight forward, rather than 'what do you have left', because then they'll give you the not-so cheap ones as options.

Last Minute Ticket Question

I don't think you should enter any lottos at all. Just get them from TKTS or something if you make it on time. I can totally get to Times Sq at 1pm from LGA if I land at noon, but then you may not know the city that well and remember that flights can be delayed, so if you win a lotto and some of them you have to pay in advance, it sounds like a terrible idea. Get tickets in person last minute.

Last Minute Ticket Question

You can certainly try lottos is you are interested..but I suggest going to TKTS at half hour before curtain. As long as you are not stuck on seeing just one show, you often get the best seats at that time..as shows that were holding house seats just in case release them right before show time.

Last time I did this I got tickets at 1:40 for The Color Purple for a 2 pm show..and wound up sitting 5th row center orchestra.
