Relax, guys... He's got a show to do. That's why he left, although I wouldn't be surprised if this thread is starting to scare him off! There's no reason to turn this place into a warzone. Evelyn raised some valid points, as did everyone else. Chill out. Let's just stay cautiously optimistic, wait and see about the movie, and go from there, okay?

Oh, do you?
What difference should it make to you if people's minds are changed, or if their views oppose yours? You say there's no need to constantly defend your views, yet that's what you've been doing for pages upon pages, not to mention blatantly stating that others are wrong.
Warped thinking? Yes, you know.

What about me? I've been sticking up for you!

LOL, there's plenty of love to go around. Of course you didn't have to stick up to me -- people are entitled to futily attempt to deny me my right to Freedom of Speech. :)
well, I've been finding this thread amusing. I just try not to add to any negativity that might exist!
hugs for everyone!

I'm a Libra. I can't stand injustice. And I flipflop. A lot.
Everyone, leave Evelyn alone!
Evelyn - the one at the top of page 16?
"Flipflopping is healthy. Nothing wrong with that, TAT "
exactly, its when people get opinions and are unwilling to change them no matter what circumstances may change. *cough-president-cough*
This should be interesting.

By Carla Hay NEW YORK (Billboard) - Little Steven's Underground Garage Festival, which took place Aug. 14 at New York's Randall's Island, may be headed to the big screen. Director Chris Columbus, whose credits include "Home Alone," the first two "Harry Potter" films and the upcoming screen adaptation of "Rent," is shopping a concert documentary to film studios. Sources say he wants the film to be a high-definition, 3-D experience. Steven Van Zandt, aka Little Steven of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, organized the festival, which featured such acts as Iggy Pop & the Stooges, Big Star, Nancy Sinatra, the Strokes, the New York Dolls and the Pretty Things. "The Directors" Documentary Feature on Chris Columbus
"The Directors", a critically acclaimed documentary series, will feature Harry Potter director Chris Columbus. Airing November 6th on Encore, part of the Starz! cable film channel, this one hour show on the director will feature interviews and clips from the first two Harry Potter films, as well as information about his newest production "Rent." A press release had this about the show:
"The Directors episode features clips from Columbus's films Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Nine Months, Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Mrs. Doubtfire, Adventures in Babysitting, Stepmom, and Rent, his latest production. The segment includes extensive exclusive chats with Columbus, plus interviews with Robin Williams, Sally Field, Daniel Radcliffe, and others."
Again, this show will air on Encore Saturday November 6th at 11:00 AM(est).
wow, something i will have to watch.
Is Encore basic cable - meaning its not in the 300s or anything.
Alright I am very late in the conversation but:
I THOUGHT "RENT" WAS GOING TO BE FILMED IN SF?!?!?
I read that Chris Columbus wanted to bring some capital into the area(his hometown I believe?) I am very in favor of this idea...bring the RENT movie to San Francisco along with the 5 OBC members!!!
Whew, had to get that out there, on a side note I agree with everyone else about reserving judgement until the movie has come out. I think everyone posting has the same goal in regards to this movie: to make a truthful, well-made, well-received, adaptation of the RENT script that would make Jonathan Larson proud.(awesome guy btw)
I'm okay with SF. It's close enough to the pacific northwest that i can make a pilgrimage if need be.
I imagine that some exterior scenes will be filmed in New York while most of what takes place indoors will be filmed in San Francisco.
Of course, Columbus has to consider (if he hasn't already) that the East Village of 2004 isn't quite the same as the East Village of the early 1990s. For this reason, it may not matter where it's shot as long as we can't see landmarks or mountains in the background.
