No! Don't even think about editing it. That thread is a piece of BWW history! Haha....
Here in this cold white room tied up to these machines, it's hard to imagine life as it used to be. Laughing, screaming, tumbling queen... Like the most amazing light show you've ever seen. Whirling, swirling, never blue... How could you go and die? What a selfish thing to do...

You continue to miss the point completely. My posts are not a criticism of Whiteboy Spice for attempting to reassure you, but rather a criticism of people who are instantly convinced of the greatness of an unmade film by someone who comes on this board to speak warmly of his affiliation with the project. Open your minds.
And in fact he is trying to win you over -- not that I can blame him for wanting to do that. Who wouldn't want people to appreciate their work?

haha. It sounds so funny when you refer to him as Whiteboy Spice, Evelyn. And I don't think any of us are convinced of it's greatness simply because he has shared his confidence in it with us.
I don't know if that's the way people are coming across to you Evelyn, but speaking for myself (and for some of the others who've posted, I read their posts the same way I'm thinking) I am not confident that the movie will be fabulous. Anthony's posting doesn't convince me that the movie will be great, nor do I think that is his intention. However, his involvement with the film makes me feel as if Chris Columbus is really trying to stick with Jonathan's vision. I haven't posted much about the RENT film, because I'm not sure how I feel about the casting, so I wasn't "instantly won over." I'm optimistically skeptical and excited to see what happens.
Why do we play with fire?
Why do we run our fingers through the flame?
Why do we leave our hands on the stove, although we know we're in for some pain?

"haha. It sounds so funny when you refer to him as Whiteboy Spice, Evelyn."
No different than any of you referring to me as "Evelyn" or "she." I think it was Laurie Anderson, the inspiration for Maureen, who believed that the technological age represented opportunities for people to take on new identities regardless of how obscure or well-known they might be in reality...
"And I don't think any of us are convinced of it's greatness simply because he has shared his confidence in it with us."
Then either you haven't read this thread or you're as dubious about what's being said on it as I am cautiously optimistic about the film.
wow has this thread has grown!! Not surprised though. :)
I am sure many people have stumbled across this site unintentually. Just google something even semi related to broadway and its actors and there will be atleast one thread that comes up in its results! Scary sometimes to see it.

Don't have any questions, really. Just wanted to pop in and say hey to Anthony - it's so exciting to see you posting here. I've always enjoyed your work, especially with Rent, and I'm happy to hear that you seem excited about the project.
Please, keep posting. I'm sure everyone here's got some great questions for you, and I love reading the answers. And whenever I think of something interesting to ask about, I'll be posting questions too.
And let me just say this. People know full well that up until this morning, I did nothing but express my distaste with the idea of Rent on film at all. I've been terribly concerned that it wouldn't translate well. For the record, I'd hardly call my small change of heart "being won over" simply by virtue of who it is I'm "talking" to. To be honest, yes, I am still very skeptical, but that's because we still really know very, very little. I'm not at all going on about how purely fabulous this movie is going to be - I'm just expressing that what's being said here is making it sound like it might in fact be okay to be somewhat optimistic.
... and really, must we continue to go in circles with this arguments CONSTANTLY? These posts where people are acting like their views are absolutely correct are just getting old and tired. How long are we going to argue the same merits? I've been saying all along - maybe we should just wait and see.
Evelyn, First of all, I didn't mean to question why you referred to him as Whiteboy Spice. I get that. Everyone here calls me Elphie. I just find his user name amusing, and in a serious post it seemed funny to me. Second of all, it seems to me like there are those of us who have been extremely optimistic about the film and the casting of the OBC from the beginning. I am one of those people. I didn't start fawning over Anthony when he came, all of a sudden saying that I think the movie will be great. I think that Columbus will be able to do a good job with it and my confidence has only been boosted now that I know OBC members are on board. I know that it is not finished yet and that I really can't judge until I have seen it, but all I have meant to express is my optimism and hope. From my reading of this thread, I haven't noticed any people changing their opinions completely since Anthony has posted. Some people have been somewhat comforted by his post, which is understandable to me. edit: yeah, what Emcee said. I'm through arguing.

Evelyn - It's a curious thing, isn't it, because I remember some people - and this includes you - were convinced that the movie would turn out terribly because it didn't fit with their perceptions of how it should have been cast? Or scheduled? Among other things?
The instant judgements have been happening all along, and you're right in that they're certainly unnecessary and annoying. The movie will come out, and THEN we'll see.

bottom line - doenst matter what we think about it now. We just have to sit and wait!

Movie Have any other OBC been offered parts in the movie but have yet to accept? Have you spoken to any OBC members that have definitely not been cast in the film? If so, how do they feel about not being cast or not being asked? It must be hard. If you, Adam, Jesse, Taye or Idina had not been cast in the film, did you have any thoughts on who would've been cast in your places?
Other Are you ever gonna come back to New York to be on Broadway again?! We miss you here. How often do you revisit Rent in its stage form (Broadway and non-equity)? Is it to check up on the show to see how it's doing or for nostalgia reasons? And are you ever gonna come out with a new CD?!
This thread got so crazily enflamed after it hit page 13. *sigh* Where did the good old days, erm, go?
I think the extreme posts are scaring people away from the thread now... I know threads are for opinions but this one got so out of control, and it was so nice for a while!
I think I'll revert to lurking, self-exile, if you will (too many personal opinion-related conflicts here now, if that makes sense...)
(Nobody attack me for saying this please--but it was so much friendlier for a little while, wasn't it?)
edit: A good little quote popped into my head that seemed rather apropos, "Come on, guys, chill!"

Those of you writing posts insisting that you weren't "won over" by Whiteboy Spice need to chill out. If you're that confident in your views, then there's really no need to give in to every opportunity to defend them.
"And there's need to constantly try to prove that you're correct? So people blindly changed their minds - leave it alone."
That's some warped thinking you've got going on there. I've said nothing that needs proof of its correctness, so to speak; either you agree or you disagree with what I say. I look forward to your response to even this post. :)
Edit: 1, 100, 400! All by me.
