This just in:
Wilson Jermaine Heredia has been offered the role of Angel.
Tracy Thoms has been offered the role of Joanne.
There are three women screen testing for Mimi. I don't think it would be appropriate to say who they are before they get the role (or don't, as the case may be), but I can say that two of them have played the role before, and one has not.
Now have fun trying to figure out who they are!
I needed to do something to cheer myself up after the dismal election results.
Take care, have heart --

Wow, surprising news. Hopefully, Wilson has fixed his problem. I'm wondering if Sharon Leal is possibly one of the Mimi's. She was great in the role and has television experience and recognition. Jaime Lee Kirchner is probably the other. Interesting. Updated On: 11/3/04 at 06:58 AM
Thanks Anthony for the update we apprecaite it.
I don't know if I am happy or sad. I like that they are getting as much of the OBC as possible, but I was really pulling for Jai.

Thanks for the news Anthony...
I know it has been widely rumored that Jaime Lee Kirchner is one of the ladies screentesting for Mimi, has anyone else seen her? I saw her this summer and just wasn't impressed, but maybe that's just me?

I thought Jaime Lee was incredible, and I think it would be awesome to see her in the film. But I'm also thinking how awesome it would be FOR her to be in the film. Non-eq tour Mimi, suddenly in the film version of the show with most of the original leads? Pretty cool. I think she could pull it off.
I bet the other Mimi in consideration is Antonique Smith. She did well with the role, plus she's their poster child.

oh! I hope Wilson Jermaine Heredia takes it. I really like him. And I feel bad because it seems like he hasn't worked (atleast on Broaday) since his Tony award winning role. I love Jai and would have been please with that, but they guy won the Tony! He's got my support!

Thanks for the news, Anthony. I was also kinda surprised to hear Heredia was offered the role but that's awesome... sounds like everything's really coming together...

Sorry about your candidate.
Everyone please try to relax now (at least we know who the president will be within 24 hours of the election day....)
I hope you feel better...
(Your home state did go to Kerry though... :) )

I concur, Tiff.
Can I ask another question? Poor guy will probably never get to answer, but someone else may know. What's going on with the ensemble parts? And there are rumors flying around about a nude scene, is that happening and does it take the place of Contact?
I think that at this point they might as well go find Fredi Walker, wherever she is (Lion King tour, I think I heard?) and pile makeup on Daphne and just bring the whole gang back. Won't it be odd for two new people to be in it with a group that did the original and have known each other for quite a while?

I have no idea about Mr. Columbus' script, but I can comment on the Chobsky first draft. During "Without You" Roger and Mimi are making love (passionate, not sex or #%^!.) and during Another Day, if I remember correctly, there is a visual montage of various pas events including Mimi getting raped in an alley. Not sure what the Columbus' script will have, though.

Yeah, I agree, Insomniak. It seems a little strange to have six out of the 8 main OBC members back. They should get them all! I know there's issues because Daphne's pregnant and stuff, but she'll have had the baby before filming begins. Have Fredi and Daphne been asked or even considered? I'd love to see the 8 main OBC members together again, I would expect the chemistry to be better that way than with 2 people who were not part of that original group, no matter how awesome they are.

Thanks for the answer Charlie, makes a little more sense now...
And I agree its kinda weird to have 6 of the 8 OBC, I say get them all, age and other reasons aside, the nostalgia of it alone would attract many people who listen to the OBC recording, but have never seen them perform. Of course the whole baby thing does complicate the matter, but I would be interested to know if the other 2 have even been approached

Yeah.. I agree that 6/8 (main) OBC would be a bit odd, but *I* really wouldn't mind anyway (I see no reason why when is all said and done I would...)...
I'm just gonna say I hope you all have a great rest-of-the-week-and-weekend... I'll be away 'til Sunday night and most likely with no internet (though they've *got* to have internet *somewhere* in Disney World, lol)
Best be going then--> Have a Nice Weekend Everyone :)
(And thanks again for the casting info Anthony!)

THANK YOU ANTHONY! that just made my day after this election fiasco. i hope wilson accepts the part. it would be amazing if all 8 OBC were offered/accepted the parts. it would be like a recording of the live show, except there's so much more flexibility to the silver screen.
i just hope columbus stays true to larson's work and doesn't cut any songs... but it'll probably be difficult to make a 2.5 hour show the length of a movie.
I just read the screenplay. I was all geared up to hate it, to be completely honest, but I really love a lot of what I see. Hopefully the good stays, and along with the changes Anthony already mentioned, I think it has a lot of potential. Still much to be seen, but I'm definitley beginning to look forward to this.
