I don't know about Freddie I thought Gwen Stewart who took over for Freddie was about a million times better than her.

i dont think gwen stewart ever took over for fredi, she was always the featured soloist in seasons of love. and as far as fredi is concerned shes in her mid 40's and has been deemed too old for the role now.

How old is Joanne, anyway? I thought I heard 29.... I know most of the ages are in the original screenplay, but I don't feel like looking through 151 pages.

Gwen Stewart did take over for Fredi Walker as Joanne. She and kristin Lee Kelly were Joanne and Maureen together and were amazing.

I wonder who they all have lined up for the role, Ava would be a good choice because she looks young, Idina is just a little too old to be replaying to role.. just my input...

BBS - You've seen the new tour? I thought Ava was amazing too. And I normally dislikee Maureen's character.
"It's not always about you!!!" (But if you think I'm referring to you anyway, then I probably am.)

Yeah, I saw it.. hrmm.. a few weeks ago. I can't remember, but Ava was really good. And if you go to her website you can hear her sing some other songs. I think she is a better broadway singer then a pop singer though..

I'll tell you what I think of the tour come Feburary.
And it seems like we're just waiting for contracts to be signed; I think it's all or mostly done.

I just hope they cast right.. I am sick of seeing a black Mimi.. Mimi should just be Latino! And Maureen needs to be white.. not Latino... Just my opinion...

I'm not completely familiar with Rent-- what are you basing this off of?

Oh wow, I was really nervouse about this movie being made, but this makes me so excited!!!! And since i'm new, is Anthony Rapp REALLY posting here or is it some kind of joke I don't know about?? Because if it's really him, then this has to be the highlight of my night!! The entire OBC of RENT is just beyond compare...

Idina is basically a definite for Maureen, and she's white, so you don't really have anything to worry about there...

RENT--it's really him
I found a book in Barnes and Noble today written by an author named Maureen Johnson. It was a total RENThead moment.

Oh....she doesn't really look it from what I've seen. I don't think it really matters though.

Does that mean we could have a white Mimi?

I don't see why 6 out of 8 OBC's would be strange in the film. Daphne left very early, some say before her contract was up and the show still rocked with the remaining seven.
