Let's leave her some love.
Yay!
You rock, Laura! Hope you're feeling better.
I loved her portrayal of Julia in The Wedding Singer. Get well soon!
I think it says alot about a performer when someone walks into a show filled with stars, and walks out of there remembering the name and the magnificent performance of one of the "no names" in the show. That's how it was for me with "Nine" - I walked in there ecstatic to see Jane Krakowski and Antonio Banderas, and don't get me wrong, they were FABULOUS and everything I expected them to be and more (cannot WAIT for Antonio's return to Broadway). I walked out of there remembering Laura Benanti. She was absolutely fabulous in that show, beautiful, gorgeous, compelling, making a tiny lead role into something wonderfully memorable.
This thread makes me smile. :)
Laura is an absolute sweetheart, with a gorgeous voice to boot, and I know she could really use some love right now.
Love you bunches Laura!
Laura was my favorite thing about Nine - and I too went in really wound up about Jane. And I still loved the Jane.
But the first time she came out to talk to him about the movie as 'Claudia' and she let out this little "oh" when she realized that he thought she was this... fantasy fabricated... thing. I was hooked.
I will shamelessly admit to coming to NY to see Nine with ONE ticket - and then seeing it 4 more times that same week. Mostly due to her and that scene where Antonio put the glasses on her face... holy smokes. Cue me crying like a bitch.

That's my girl!
She's so beautiful. She's really got the best smile in the world, doesn't she?
And from anyone who's gotten a Laura hug... they're the best in the world!

THANK YOU for starting this thread. Seriously, THANK YOU. Because laura is amazing... and she deserves more love than she's been getting lately in.. ahem.. other threads :) And... I still really need to get Nine. Unfortunatley my comp isnt working and so i'm usin my moms laptop and I dont want to download anything on itunes on this comp cause then I'd have no way of getting it onto my ipod but once I get my own comp back working, it's the first thing I'm getting!
I had enjoyed Laura as a performer for about ayear, but after recently reading about her injury during Into the Woods I gained so much respect for her as a person.
Hope you're feeling better, Laura!
How was Laura in The Sound of Music? I'm sorry I didn't see her in that.

^I saw her in it but I was like 8 and very sadly I really dont remember it very well at ALL! haha, but I remember thinking she was really good, that I do remember :P
I loved her - and I'd just seen Rebecca do it like... 3 months before maybe. She was so relaxed and natural. And her VOICE holy cow. I didn't think I'd like someone better than Rebecca (I LOVE Rebecca) but I was just crazy about Laura.
She looked really young next to Richard Chamberlain though - I have that window card actually and it's on the back of my room door because it's vaguely.... disconcerting. She's so YOUNG and he's like... going in for the kill.
I sure hope she gets better soon. I wish her well What an ordeal she has been through.
Laura Benanti is amazing. I wish I knew what happened to her. PM me to tell me the story so I don't threadjack.

Rebeca Luker is a great performer but Laura Benanti's Maria surpassed her. Also, Laura's rendition of "Unusual Way" is spectacular and her great acting is clear on "A Man Like You" and "Simple," in the latter even her "Ciao, Guido" reaches such a great level of emotion that I always thought was lacking in Shelly Burch's voice in the original recording.
I wish he had found a vehicle worthy of her talents instead of The Wedding Singer but at least she is on Broadway. Shame on everyone who is talking about her getting replaced.
i could go on for at least a page and a half about this girl's talents
shes just absolutely incredible
Her voice is just one that any soprano would kill for ( i know,because..i would)
she is just an amazing soul and a kind, sprited, friendly and honest person.
Laura, I hope you get better really soon.
xoxo

Laura is so pretty and has such a beautiful voice. I liked her from when I heard her sing "Beautiful City/Day By Day" on the Stephen Schwartz album.
I would like to see her in the Yeston/Kopit Phantom someday, she did a great job with the song "Home" from that show.
Whatever her ailment is, I hope she comes through with no lingering effects.

its about time we get this thread on here!
laura is AMAZING!! I absolutely adored her in TWS. The way that she played Julia just stuck out to me. She has a remarkable voice and the biggest heart! And I loved her as Cinderella in Into The Woods! Ahh, shes just amazing!! ha ha.
♥ Get well soon Laura ♥
*LOVE* to one of my favorite performers!
Get well soon, Laura!

I think what people love about her is the clarity of her voice. It's so pure and without trying, she conveys such emotion. Her "Steps of the Palace" tells an entirely different story than any of her predecessors in the role.

omg, i LOVE the way she sings that song. She makes it so beautiful! Man, what i would do for her voice, lol.
Her "Steps of the Palace" ruined that song for me - as in, I'm disappointed any time anyone else sings it because it doesn't do the same thing for me.
"Shame on everyone who is talking about her getting replaced".

What's wrong about discussing a posible replacement(after that subject was posted by a very important magazine) to let this girl, who is in poor health to get better?
I love Laura, but it seems she needs to take time off to get better if she is not doing well, like anyone would.
